Coming to you from the Freedom Federal Credit Union Studios. Harford County Living presents Conversations with Rich Bennett.

None of the truth is.

Rich Bennett 1:00
So what happens when the underground music scene, chronic illness, and relentless hustle collide? Today's guest didn't just survive that collision, he turned it into a legacy. Robert B. Sy Cardello is a rapper, producer, entrepreneur, and now author of "Miloing My Shoez," a raw, no-bull shit memoir about grinding through the music industry while battling multiple sclerosis. This isn't some feel-good sugar-good coded story. Robert Spitz out truth about what it's like to tour the country, build a street wear brand from scratch, and keep creating even when MS tried to knock him out of the game. From passing out mixtapes in dive bar parking lots to launching 55 strong clothing from a wheelchair, to wrippling a book that's blowing up in MS communities, Robert is living proof that fire doesn't fade just because your body slows down. So whether you're an artist, an entrepreneur, or someone just trying to make it through the day, this conversation's for you. So strap in because B-side story is as gritty, inspiring, and real as it gets. So grab your coffee, grab your drink, whatever it is, put everything on hold, and listen. All right, so Robert, first of all, holy crap man, there's something in that introduction I haven't even heard of in a long time. A mixtape.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 2:36
Oh I know, right?

Rich Bennett 2:39
Damn.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 2:39
Yeah, that kind of dates me.

Rich Bennett 2:42
Holy crap, now for those of you listening, and I remember this is what big in the 80s, maybe even the 90s?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 2:50
Yeah, and then it kind of came back in like the early 2000s as CD.

Rich Bennett 2:54
Oh, it did.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 2:54
As CDs.

Rich Bennett 2:56
Oh CDs,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 2:56
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 2:57
yeah,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 2:57
like CDs with mixed tracks on them and stuff. And then you know 50 cent really made it big here in New York. So

Rich Bennett 3:05
right.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 3:05
he would do like remixes to people's tracks, and then like kind of put it on like a whole compilation CD and call it a mixtape.

Rich Bennett 3:14
You know, it's a lot easier to do it now if digital.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 3:16
Oh yeah.

Rich Bennett 3:18
I mean, I remember as a DJ, because I used to do the beat mixing. And then when I went digital, I was lost. I couldn't do it. But then when I trained my son to become a DJ, and he could he had no problem.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 3:35
Yeah, yeah, I

Rich Bennett 3:36
But

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 3:36
bet.

Rich Bennett 3:36
doing the mixtapes, I used to love now a granite the way I did it was probably completely different from what you did. I used to like doing what they call mellies.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 3:48
Okay,

Rich Bennett 3:48
And putting them together. Whereas you were doing a rap.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 3:51
yeah.

Rich Bennett 3:51
But I would always love doing stuff like that. And then getting into DJ, then I would start recording some of the beat mix. And I wish I had them still.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 3:59
Oh, that's cool.

Rich Bennett 4:01
Oh, God, I miss that. Alright. So I want to go back some time now. First of all with the MS. How old were you when you were diagnosed with MS?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 4:10
I was 28.

Rich Bennett 4:14
Wow.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 4:15
Yeah, it was 2011. And I got diagnosed. I was like right at the precipice of like where I should have been like career wise. But

Rich Bennett 4:24
Right.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 4:24
like I was just right there getting ready to like tour for a recent album that I had come out with. And then everything kind of got screwed up, you know.

Rich Bennett 4:33
Wow.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 4:34
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 4:36
So so you were already torn in

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 4:38
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 4:38
everything?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 4:39
Yeah. I was I was doing shows and touring. I actually was I was working with these. Have you ever heard of the insane clown posse before?

Rich Bennett 4:51
Oh my God.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 4:51
Okay, so I was working with these artists that were the first group ever signed with them,

Rich Bennett 4:58
Yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 4:58
okay?

Rich Bennett 4:59
Mm-hmm.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 5:00
And they actually, they got off their label like back in the 90s, and then they kept doing their own thing, their names Project Born, and

Rich Bennett 5:09
Okay.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 5:10
they, uh, they would tour and do all kinds of shows and stuff like that. So, I was doing a show in Pennsylvania, and Project Born was actually at that show, and one of the guys, POKE, he was there for my set, and he hit me up afterwards, and we exchanged numbers. I didn't really expect much of it, but then he hit me up, and wanted me on an album that they were coming out with, and then we ended up striking up a friendship, and before you know what, I'm pretty much living in Flint, Michigan with these guys, and yeah.

Rich Bennett 5:47
You didn't drink the water, did

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 5:48
wow. No, no, didn't

Rich Bennett 5:49
you?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 5:50
drink the water. I was drinking Fago Soda, so

Rich Bennett 5:53
Okay,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 5:53
yeah,

Rich Bennett 5:53
oh

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 5:55
Uh,

Rich Bennett 5:56
yeah. Kelle,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 5:56
yeah, so, uh, so yeah, that's where it was, and then I was with them in Michigan for a while, and for probably about a good year, you know, and then we had toured everywhere, we had gone as far as California, you know. Yeah.

Rich Bennett 6:11
wow. There's, it's saying Clint Clamposs who's still

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 6:15
they?

Rich Bennett 6:15
together, aren't

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 6:16
They are, yes.

Rich Bennett 6:17
And their day, and Kripy, if I'm wrong, but aren't they doing a lot of wrestling stuff too?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 6:22
well, right now, Violent J is doing wrestling, one half of them,

Rich Bennett 6:27
Uh,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 6:27
and he, they actually have their own wrestling promotion, J. C. Yeah. Yeah. So they're doing like wrestling right now, like really big. Like he's not really wrestling in it, but he's like the commissioner of it.

Rich Bennett 6:41
Yeah. Yeah. I saw that. I'm like, wait 'cause I, I know, seeing that before I'm a big wrestling

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 6:47
Okay,

Rich Bennett 6:47
thing.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 6:48
me

Rich Bennett 6:48
Uh,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 6:48
too.

Rich Bennett 6:48
but seeing that before, I'm like... Wait a minute. Why not you get musicians, actors, and everybody

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 6:55
Yep.

Rich Bennett 6:55
into it? So I think a lot of them, that's their dream as always to, well, help look at Gelly Roll.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 7:03
I know.

Rich Bennett 7:04
Yeah, Gelly Roll's wrestling. For those of you listening, we're recording this July 31. And Gelly, Ro, Gelly, Gelly Row. Gelly Roll's actually wrestling this weekend in WWE, it's your anniversary.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 7:16
Yeah. Isn't that crazy?

Rich Bennett 7:18
It is. But, you know, it's, hey, looking at many wrestlers, they end up becoming good actors.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 7:24
I know. I know it's

Rich Bennett 7:25
so, alright. So, what made you, it's, those of you listening, make sure you get the book and I love the play on words 'cause it's Myelin, my shoes, now Myelin is spelled, M-Y-E-L-I-N, not M-I, you know, not like Myelin. So make sure you get it. And, you know, once you're doing your read it, make sure you leave a full review, buy more copies for everybody else. But what made you finally decide it was time to write this?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 7:53
Well, I had actually been kicking around an idea in my phone for a bunch of years. I had been just like writing little quips here and there and sort of in my phone. And then, just recently, I was working with my father on a project, on this business project that we're doing together. And then, something happened where he had got into an accident, somebody re-rended him and we kind of were on like a break, taking a break from all this stuff. So, I'm

Rich Bennett 8:31
Right?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 8:31
like, I need something to do to create because when I'm creating, I'm not in pain. So I'm like, oh, let me see what's going on with this book. Let me see what I can do with this book. So I end up, I end up, I end up hookin' up with chat GPT and I was using that for, you know, just little creative things here and

Rich Bennett 8:54
Right,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 8:54
there. So I actually ask that I go, can you help edit a book? And it's like, yeah! So I started feeding it information and it's helping me edit this whole book together. So I'm like, that is unbelievable! So I'm writing stuff, feeding it all this information. And it's like, helping me just like a editor would, you know?

Rich Bennett 9:18
yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 9:19
And I'm just like, this is amazing. So before, you know what, I was done with this book and I'm like, I need to publish it and you know, title it and all that, and then the Mylon My Shoes. The Mylon, M. Y. E. L. I. N. is actually the coding that's around your nerves that the multiple sclerosis eats at.

Rich Bennett 9:42
I did not realize

why!

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 9:52
Yup,

Rich Bennett 9:54
yup. Alright so with the book what was probably the hardest part? And, let me just clarify something first because I know some of the listeners would be like well he didn't write a chat gpt. You wrote

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 10:10
Yes.

Rich Bennett 10:10
it, you asked chat gpt that edited, which

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 10:13
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 10:13
is a big

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 10:14
difference. Big difference.

Rich Bennett 10:16
Yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 10:16
Right.

Rich Bennett 10:16
Those of you listening, just me, I want to make sure that you knew that. Um, but what was the hardest part when he came to writing the book?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 10:25
I would say going through parts of like my old life when I was talking about touring and things like that because I really wasn't. It kind of sucks not to be able to do that stuff anymore

Rich Bennett 10:42
Yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 10:42
and kind of going through that kind of stuff kind of hit me and then you know like unpacking certain things like with my family like how my parents had split up when we were younger and stuff and and then you know just kind of like experiencing it through 42 year olds eyes you know

Rich Bennett 11:04
Right.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 11:04
and and then actually seeing it and saying like well you know like I understand what my dad did and and it's like well and I can understand how tough it must have been with two kids and a wife and everything but you know like I'd give it my damnedest shot at it but you know everybody can't do it so I mean I understand that you know what's a big thing and.

Rich Bennett 11:32
Yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 11:32
You know some people just can't do it and that's all right and you know like I live with that I can I can live with that that's cool

Rich Bennett 11:42
Mm-hmm.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 11:42
because me and my dad we talked we had a whole big we had a whole big thing we I went to his house in Mississippi we ended up having this this awesome talk together apologize to each other and everything so I mean that was that was great it was just like a good bonding moment you know.

Rich Bennett 12:02
Yeah

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 12:03
yeah.

Rich Bennett 12:03
Hey you you also said this book wasn't written for sympathy or hype

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 12:07
right

Rich Bennett 12:08
just truth

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 12:09
right

Rich Bennett 12:09
so what truth did you actually need to get off your chest the most

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 12:13
well I wanted to talk about how this disease kind of affected me through everything else because I kind of describe how my life was before it and then

Rich Bennett 12:30
right

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 12:30
during it and with it so that's kind of the way that the book goes like I talk about my life and then I talk about getting the disease and then I talk about living with the disease and then there were a couple things I wanted to get off my chest about the music business itself

Rich Bennett 12:49
yes

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 12:49
yeah

Rich Bennett 12:51
and actually so let's go back to the early music days

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 12:54
mm-hmm

Rich Bennett 12:55
what did the underground scene teach you that no classroom ever could mm-hmm

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 13:02
that you don't need to make songs in a specific format to try and get on the radio or anything like that you can just be yourself and just do it that way and not have like some record label behind you telling you what to do.

Rich Bennett 13:23
A lot of people don't realize the acting you know the acting business the music business and even the arts it's there's a lot of how can I say this politely

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 13:39
politics

Rich Bennett 13:40
uh

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 13:40
yeah

Rich Bennett 13:42
yes thank you a lot of politics in it a lot of I guess you could say even you have to know somebody yeah in order

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 13:51
yeah

Rich Bennett 13:52
yeah yeah it actually so I want to get back into this so from DJs Dudley to future felons to solo projects how did your son evolve through those chapters of your

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 14:04
I would say that it got more personal uh

Rich Bennett 14:09
life nice

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 14:10
because it's like back when we were doing like whole DJs Dudley thing we pretended to be gangsters with like bandana's on our faces and stuff you know it wasn't anything that was just like kids stuff you know

Rich Bennett 14:26
yeah

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 14:26
and then uh right me and my partner met each other, Shai Ste and then we started doing this thing called the future felons and we were doing shows locally and stuff like that so that was cool and then and then what happened is he Shai Ste my partner he ended up you know having kids and doing the whole dad thing and I'm like I'm you know I'll let you do that take care of that I'm gonna keep doing my thing and I just kept continuing and now I'm here

Rich Bennett 15:06
but I guess your music over to over the time I guess started telling more of a story than anything as

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 15:13
yeah

Rich Bennett 15:13
well

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 15:14
yeah

Rich Bennett 15:14
yeah okay all right so what did actually perform in on stage feel like before MSM they're the picture and had did that feel and change once you had to perform from a wheelchair

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 15:26
the the feeling of being on stage is like nothing that I can even explain whether it's like two people there or two thousand it's just this this unbelievable feeling it's orgasmic I don't even know how to describe it and

Rich Bennett 15:44
yeah

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 15:45
the unfortunate thing is I've never been on stage in a wheelchair I can't

Rich Bennett 15:50
oh

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 15:50
yeah I can't go on stage the stage is too hot for me with the MS so I haven't yeah yeah so I haven't been on stage with the MS and that's something that I think that I need to build my name up bigger to where I'll be able to perform at like a bigger place where

Rich Bennett 16:12
be

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 16:12
I could

Rich Bennett 16:13
right

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 16:14
you know cool and not have to worry about all the little stuff that I'd have to worry about it like small venues or

Rich Bennett 16:23
I never thought

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 16:24
that yeah

Rich Bennett 16:24
about

you know what if you wanted to happen it will happen

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 16:30
yes yes

Rich Bennett 16:32
just just keep keep your mind open and somebody's going to make it happen I one thing I love about music and I've said this for the longest time and it's helped me to me music is it's therapy

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 16:49
it is

Rich Bennett 16:51
and you me can you even said that music was the therapist you couldn't afford

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 16:56
right

Rich Bennett 16:57
so can you unpack a moment where creating literally saved you mentally

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 17:03
yeah actually there's there's this one song that I made can I curse or is that

Rich Bennett 17:10
yeah you're

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 17:11
okay

Rich Bennett 17:11
I already

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 17:12
you

Rich Bennett 17:12
did it

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 17:12
already

Rich Bennett 17:13
it show

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 17:13
did

Rich Bennett 17:13
man

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 17:14
all right

Rich Bennett 17:14
come on beside

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 17:16
there's this one song it's called my life's fucked up and I there was this whole big blowout that happened with my mother that day there was I actually talked about it in the book we there was this credit card that was attached to my name but I wasn't like a guarantee on it and

Rich Bennett 17:36
so

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 17:36
she had went bankrupt and this credit card ended up staying with my name attached to it and I was just furious about this thing and then I end up going upstairs to my room recording this song my life's fucked up and make this thing before work I'm bawling my eyes out as I'm making this song

Rich Bennett 18:02
yeah

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 18:03
you know and and then like I have to go work at subway like in 20 30 minutes or whatever so I get down what I needed to get down go to work and then come back home finish the song up and it's probably my my one of my mom's favorite songs of mine my life's fucked up

Rich Bennett 18:25
I like that

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 18:25
yeah

Rich Bennett 18:27
all right now can something very important can people still listen to or even get your music

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 18:31
oh absolutely I'm spotify all digital streaming places everything all they

Rich Bennett 18:38
you're

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 18:38
got to

Rich Bennett 18:38
still creep

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 18:39
ahead

Rich Bennett 18:39
I'm sorry go

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 18:40
yep all I was gonna say all they got to do is search for B dash c i d e and it

Rich Bennett 18:44
up

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 18:44
comes

Rich Bennett 18:45
all right yeah I love that because you know growing up now I'm older than you but you always had the 45s you always had the A side

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 18:57
and the B side

Rich Bennett 18:58
yeah but the spelling of B side for you is B and then the whatever you want to call it I think C I D E

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 19:07
yeah

Rich Bennett 19:08
had you come up with

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 19:08
Ok,

Rich Bennett 19:09
that

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 19:09
now what happened is, when I was working with my old group back in high school, and then after we had gotten like done do with that high school BS, uh, one of the dudes from the group that used to make our beats, he dubbed me B side and I'm like oh ok, that's cool. And then, and then I'm like, I want to spell it like homicide because I murder people.

Rich Bennett 19:36
OH! Oh, damn,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 19:39
yeah, yeah, so that's where I came up with the name from, and then B. C. those are my initials too,

Rich Bennett 19:48
yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 19:48
Oh, yeah, Bob. Yeah, Bob Partillo,

Rich Bennett 19:51
yeah. Oh man, that is smart.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 19:53
yeah,

Rich Bennett 19:54
I love that. And, my, I never thought about the homicide,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 19:58
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 19:59
but that makes more sense, I'm thinking like what does he like apple cider

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:02
something.

Rich Bennett 20:02
or

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:02
Uh,

Rich Bennett 20:03
it's like damn, alright, so, when it comes to performing, is it that you would love to perform with that you haven't had the opportunity to yet,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:18
who

Rich Bennett 20:18
yet, notice I said yet.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:19
One group that I would love to perform with is Green Day. You would never,

Rich Bennett 20:24
no shit, really?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:25
They are my biggest, I am their biggest fan ever, yes.

Rich Bennett 20:32
Wait a minute. I mean, that's like two different types of genre.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:36
Exactly.

Rich Bennett 20:37
That would, well then again, I mean, you have rappers that have done stuff of country artists, so why

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:42
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 20:42
not?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:43
like I would I would love to do a collaboration with them. I've listened to them since 1994. They were my first band. You know, when you, you know, when you first find the music that you listen,

Rich Bennett 20:54
uh-huh,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 20:55
as you know, the carries on to adulthood, that was Green Day. And I still love them.

Rich Bennett 21:01
So I have to tell you this story back Green Day,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 21:04
yeah.

Rich Bennett 21:04
And my son was a huge fan of them. We, me and my buddies went to, there was a big nightclub here in Baltimore back in the day called Hammer Jack. And the Ramones were playing there,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 21:18
Oh

Rich Bennett 21:18
so

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 21:18
wow.

Rich Bennett 21:18
we're like, okay, we gotta go see the Ramones. So we get there and the, the Ramones weren't on stage yet, and this other band was performing. Everybody's just sitting there drinking having a good time. The band was pretty good, but nobody knew who they were. And once the Ramones came on and that first chord hit, it was like, shoot like a magnet just pulled everybody in. It was asshole to belly

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 21:44
Wow.

Rich Bennett 21:44
button. We lost our one buddy in the crowd somewhere. I think he got a shoulder or an elbow into the nose. But the band that opened up was Green Day.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 21:54
Wow, that's awesome.

Rich Bennett 21:57
Yeah, and so nobody knew who they were. Yeah, but they, I mean, they were pretty, a lot of people don't realize when you go and see some of these top acts. That's the, especially if they have bands open enough for them.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 22:10
Yep.

Rich Bennett 22:11
That's, you're going to see some artist who are actually going to be bigger than the bands that they opened up

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 22:18
For

Rich Bennett 22:18
for.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 22:18
real, that, that, that is the truth. And it's kind of funny because if you watch Green Day from back then you can see like these guys were tight as hell.

Rich Bennett 22:28
Yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 22:29
And like you can see like that it's still the same only they might have more instruments, you know, more instrument,

Rich Bennett 22:36
right.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 22:36
But it's still like the same three guys doing it and they're still incredible. And I'm like these guys are you know, that's my rolling stones. That's, you know.

Rich Bennett 22:49
Oh, what? I can't believe they're

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 22:51
performing.

Rich Bennett 22:51
still

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 22:51
Yeah, right.

Rich Bennett 22:53
Holy cow. Um, I want, I want to get it back into the MS you, you first noticed signs of MS in the smallest moments like dropping red at subway.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 23:01
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 23:02
What was the breaking point that finally got you to the doctor?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 23:06
Well, I actually got diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism in 2011. And it set me into the hospital. And after I got out with that, I noticed that my leg was kind of like dropping. And I thought it was just from being in bed because I had a physical therapist come and he told me, you know, it's probably from just being in bed and not moving around. So I'm like, all right. And then it starts getting later down the line. And I'm noticing that things are going numb. You know, my legs went numb. I was actually at a Green Day concert and my legs were numb. I could barely walk around. It's the weirdest sensation.

and uh and still didn't think anything of it. I thought my mouth was numb. I was even blaming it on something that I ate like pico de galleos, spicy food and then what happened is my midsection went numb and I'm like

Rich Bennett 24:18
oh shit

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 24:19
yeah I need to go see a doctor now. So I went to go see a doctor and they ended up hooking me up with some general neurologist who had me do an MRI and then he told me I had multiple sclerosis.

Rich Bennett 24:35
Pam.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 24:35
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 24:36
All right so what was that like when you know we walk us through that moment when he came in and was anybody with you at the time at the doctor?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 24:45
Yeah actually it was my ex-veance father was there

Rich Bennett 24:51
Okay.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 24:51
with me at the doctor and I was the way that guy made it sound is he said to me oh take these shots you'll be fine never

Rich Bennett 25:03
anything.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 25:03
explained

Rich Bennett 25:04
What?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 25:06
Yeah and we live where I live we live in Utica New York it's horrible for health care. and like this doctor's just like I'll take these shots you'll be good so I'm taking these shots and I'm noticing that I'm kind of getting worse you know and and then my father's like you really need to get with these doctors in Rochester, New York

Rich Bennett 25:31
Yeah

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 25:31
and he happened to be friends with somebody that they had a wing of a hospital in Rochester named after this guy's family Constantine.

Rich Bennett 25:42
Oh wow.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 25:43
So he gets me hooked up with the University of Rochester they have this MS Specialty Center so they specialize in MS. They're like world renowned for it so that's good so I got hooked up with them. They end up doing the same tests that this idiot neurologist in Utica did on me. Man, this this MRI from Utica looked like a 1950s television.

Rich Bennett 26:11
MRI

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 26:11
The from Rochester looked like a full 4K HD thing and my doctor, she's showing me all over like this is where the lesions that the MS causes are they're in your spine there's only a couple spots in your brain and stuff like that totally explaining it to me you know what I mean like on a human level.

Rich Bennett 26:38
Right yeah

and it's not just them several others in my circle have had similar experiences Daniel and his team have this personal touch that's just so rare these days they actually listen and tailor their services to fit exactly what you need and with fees way lower than the industry standard you really feel like you're getting luxury service without that hefty price tag so whether you're buying or selling go to victory team sells dot-com and get started with Daniel McGee and his incredible team believe me with them it's not just a transaction it's a relationship. I did me favor because may be some listeners that actually don't know what multiple sclerosis is explain to them what it actually two-part question

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 27:47
sure there

Rich Bennett 27:47
explain to them what it is and also some of the biggest misconceptions

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 27:52
it.

Rich Bennett 27:52
about

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 27:52
Sure well multiple sclerosis is a neurological disease that actually eats away at the stuff at eats away at the lining of your nerves that's called myelin and it's an autoimmune disease so it's your body attacking these nerves in your own body you know and it's kind of like an electrical cord that's free that's how i like to explain So,

Rich Bennett 28:23
it.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 28:23
and then it gives you like kind of little glitches in your nervous system. So things might not work. Like you're like my like my MS a lot of it's in my cervical spine. So I attribute that to why I can't walk well. And there were people that have MS and their brains really bad. They can't see they can't you know they need help breathing and anything you can think of. And the thing that I guess is like a misconception is there could be somebody with MS walking right next to you when you'd never even

Rich Bennett 29:02
You

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 29:02
know.

Rich Bennett 29:02
want to know

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 29:03
it. Yeah.

Rich Bennett 29:05
Yeah. That's what Christina Applegate

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 29:07
right?

Rich Bennett 29:07
has

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 29:07
Yes, it is.

Rich Bennett 29:09
All right, with that because I my I think of Michael J Fox when he was diagnosed with Parkinson.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 29:18
Right.

Rich Bennett 29:18
And he started the nonprofit and he's done more for Parkinson's now than I don't think any other group has

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 29:27
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 29:28
with MS are there any whether be virtual in person like you know like you have a NA and all that any support groups where you all can get together and meet because I think that especially with you, you're so positive it's helping bring everybody else's spirits up.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 29:46
Well, they have they have like MS support groups through the national MS society. And like I'm not really sure where to find them. There's nobody really like local here. It's not. And actually there's a lot of instances of MS in Eurica, which is kind

Rich Bennett 30:07
Oh.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 30:07
of yeah, which is kind of surprising. And I think it has a lot to do with the I mean, that's really

Rich Bennett 30:14
right

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 30:14
comes from as the environment, but they don't know where comes from. They actually have no idea how it starts and how to finish it. So

Rich Bennett 30:22
they better get some better

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 30:24

Rich Bennett 30:24
doctors.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 30:24
know

Rich Bennett 30:25
That's for sure. But are you you would have come trying to think are you guys near a military base

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 30:31
anything?

Rich Bennett 30:31
or

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 30:32
Yes, Griffith Air Force base in Rome, New York, and they've had a lot of runoff of bad chemicals and stuff. I mean, we know how we know how the military is on talking about things of that nature. It's not like they don't like to openly admit things about

Rich Bennett 30:53
right.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 30:53
Like that. So you know,

Rich Bennett 30:55
we're all guinea

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 30:56
pigs. Yes, we are.

Rich Bennett 30:58
Yes. I've always said that it's, well, I had to hold another case. And I just mentioned about how you lift people up in the book. You said this disease didn't win. It's just switched the rules.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 31:13
Right.

Rich Bennett 31:14
What does that mindset look like in your daily life now?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 31:17
Well, now instead of getting pissed off at every aspect of my life, I kind of just sit there and take a breath and just deal with what I have to deal with, and put more of look at things more of a glass half full than half empty. And that's thanks to my mother. My mother helped instill that into me, and she's like, you need to start looking at things more positively. Otherwise, you're going to end up dying. It's not going to be good for you. So I started looking at things more positively. And you know, I still get upset at things. There's still things that

Rich Bennett 32:02
normal.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 32:03
upset me, you know, because

Rich Bennett 32:04
Yeah,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 32:05
your body doesn't work the way that it used to. But I do try and have a better outlook on things.

Rich Bennett 32:13
All right. You've also been open about the mental health impact,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 32:16
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 32:17
especially in moments of isolation, anger, grief. How do you keep your mind sharp and your spirit intact on hard days?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 32:26
What I like to do is, you know, if it's a tough day, I do like to do a little like just like thinking and just trying to get myself out of that funk. Or I'll try and write a song or something along those lines to try and get me out of it, even if it doesn't make sense necessarily. So I'll just try and write stuff to get it off my chest. And I guess that could be the same for anybody that's dealing with depression. You know, if you can get stuff out some way, if you even if you can write it down, you don't ever have to do anything with it. Just print it up and throw it in the garbage afterwards. Just get

Rich Bennett 33:10
Yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 33:10
stuff off your chest.

Rich Bennett 33:12
Nick, do you like reading?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 33:15
It's kind of hard for me right now to read. So I like listening to like audio books and stuff on Audible.

Rich Bennett 33:23
alright. B side. Yeah. That's still reading. Yeah. I mean, my daughter argues with me all the time, cause I love audiobooks. She argues with me all the time that that's not really. I said, yes it is.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 33:35
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 33:36
If it's, if you're taking it in, it's reading.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 33:39
Right.

Rich Bennett 33:41
I mean, cause I even brought up the part. It's like, so you're telling me that if a blind person's listening to an audiobook they're not reading.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 33:48
Huh.

Rich Bennett 33:49
She has one that they can rebrain. I'm like, I couldn't win that argument, so I just gave off.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 33:54
That's funny.

Rich Bennett 33:55
Actually, is your book in audiobooks?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 33:57
Yeah, and I, yes, and I did it myself. Yeah.

Rich Bennett 34:03
Smart. Good. I love it.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 34:04
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 34:06
I love, actually, just an idea. I mean, you being a young entrepreneur and everything, uhm, have you thought about, like, I, I, I talked to another author that did this. I thought it was brilliant. With your book, put like a QR code in there to where people can either go and buy your, buy your music or listen to it on Spotify or

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 34:30
Now, I do say in the book that you can listen to the music on Spotify and stuff. I don't

Rich Bennett 34:35
okay.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 34:35
have a QR code. And actually, I wish I did have a QR code because I came out with a soundtrack for the DML book or for the damn book. And I never, and it was afterwards, it was after it already went to print. So I, so like I thought about this because I talk about specific songs in this, in this book.

Rich Bennett 34:58
Uh-huh.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 34:59
And so I'm like, I'm going to put these songs together on an album and put it out. And I, and I did it, but I never put it in the book.

Rich Bennett 35:09
Yeah. Well, you still can, right? Because it isn't on KDP.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 35:12
Yeah, it is on KDP.

Rich Bennett 35:14
Yeah. And so you can still, you can still do it.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 35:16
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 35:17
And I think you must have been reading my mind because I was going to ask you if there was going to be like a soundtrack to it.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 35:22
Yep. Yeah. So I came out a soundtrack to it, but then actually what I'm doing right now is I'm working on a whole wrap hip-hop album about multiple sclerosis. That's

Rich Bennett 35:33
Oh nice.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 35:34
That's going to come out in multiple sclerosis awareness month and March next March.

Rich Bennett 35:41
Really?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 35:41
Yep. I'm working with my longtime friend and uh, beat maker. You know, he produces music and stuff, Ken. And we're going to be working on a whole well, we are working on a whole album, but I mess. I already have 27 demos made.

Rich Bennett 35:59
Holy cow, man. That's awesome.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:01
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 36:02
You are keeping busy.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:03
Yeah. I try and keep busy. It's the only thing that keeps my mind off the pain.

Rich Bennett 36:09
Well, which is good.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:10
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 36:10
I mean, I hope so. Actually, it got so the music, the book, an author-prenore, entrepreneur.

I have a funny feeling you're going to be doing some motivational speaking later on down the road to unless you already are.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:28
No, no, I don't.

Rich Bennett 36:29
But, what do you mean you don't?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:32
No, I don't do motivational speaking.

Rich Bennett 36:34
Oh, but you, I have a funny feeling you will be.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:36
Oh, you think that would be cool.

Rich Bennett 36:39
I think so. But I want to talk about 55 strong.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:43
Okay.

Rich Bennett 36:44
Okay. Where did that idea come from? And what's the stand for today?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:47
That idea actually came from an insane clown posse song.

Rich Bennett 36:52
Okay.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 36:53
The song is, it's called Murder Go Round that it comes from and the lyric of it, those now I'm in a street game, 55 strong. Everybody's singing that Southwest song. And I pull, and we pulled out the 55 strong and I'm like, this is great. It kind of means strength. You know,

Rich Bennett 37:13
right?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 37:14
So it's like, I'm going to do this and turn it into like my whole label and this whole branding thing. Like, this is actually one of the shirts that we

Rich Bennett 37:25
with,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 37:25
make

Rich Bennett 37:25
I see that

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 37:26
With an

Rich Bennett 37:27
the

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 37:27
ice,

Rich Bennett 37:27
ring master.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 37:27
yeah, the ring master. So like, this is like a design. It was like a messed up CD cover where they had like three hands going up and down and stuff like that. So I ended up taking it and putting it on a shirt and stuff like that.

Rich Bennett 37:46
I love that, man. And those of you listening when you go to his website, which actually is tell, actually tell everybody the website.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 37:55
It's b dash c id e dot

Rich Bennett 37:59
com. And you can, you can find his music there, but also the clothing line. And then be safe, I gotta tell you, then close kick ass, man.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 38:10
Thank you.

Rich Bennett 38:11
I love them.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 38:12
Thank you.

Rich Bennett 38:13
I love them. I don't if it would look right for a 60 T-Rold Santa Claus, the where. But I know my son and, oh, especially my daughter. When I showed my daughter later, she's going to be like, Oh, I got to get that. I got to get that. my son is actually, they move, my moop, be big fans of InSzins.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 38:33
Really?

Rich Bennett 38:34
Oh, oh yeah. Yeah, I'm pretty sure my son is.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 38:38
Cool.

Rich Bennett 38:38
My son just went... didn't they just perform somewhere?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 38:42
Yeah, and they were probably around the area too because they were on the East Coast really, uh, like about two or three months ago.

Rich Bennett 38:52
Yeah, it's some festival, I think, or something

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 38:54
like that. Yeah, they might, I know that they had done some festivals and stuff.

Rich Bennett 38:57
Okay, yeah, I think my son just went, went, um, saw them there. So with the entrepreneur stuff, because you got the clothing line, the book, what's next? I know your mind's always coming up

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 39:13
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 39:13
with different...

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 39:14
yeah, I, uh, well, the next thing actually is this whole business thing that I'm doing with my dad. Um,

Rich Bennett 39:22
oh

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 39:22
yeah, it's called the Cardinal Center, and what it's gonna be we're going to be making videos for people's businesses, what it is is politics equals profit, and we're going to show people that our business owners, how to navigate the political system, or not even talk about politics in your business, because that is the dumbest thing that you could do.

Rich Bennett 39:51
Yes,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 39:51
Is don't talk politics at all, you know, so, uh, basically,

Rich Bennett 39:56
that's brilliant.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 39:57
yeah, like my dad's been working in my dad used to work for HUD and had jobs for he used to work for George Bush and

Rich Bennett 40:07
Okay,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:07
stuff like that and George Bush too, actually. So,

Rich Bennett 40:11
right.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:11
um, so yeah, and he was part of like the relief with hurricane Katrina and stuff, so he

Rich Bennett 40:18
Oh wow.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:19
has like probably about like, 40 years or more in government. So,

Rich Bennett 40:25
oh wow,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:26
yeah, so we're going to try and teach businesses how to navigate the system to help them save money. That is what is up next.

Rich Bennett 40:36
That is great, because I you see it a lot, um, people that own business and especially on social media, those start posting their

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:47
thoughts, they're, yeah,

Rich Bennett 40:48
thoughts and it, it'll kill yeah, it'll kill your

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:51
that.

Rich Bennett 40:51
business.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:51
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 40:52
Realize

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:52
they don't realize one way or another, it kills your business.

Rich Bennett 40:56
Yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 40:56
Yeah, it doesn't matter if you're on one side or the other, you talk about it, you're dead in the water.

Rich Bennett 41:02
Uh huh, and I learned the hard way because I, you know, my one business is a it's a good news website positive news.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:12
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 41:12
And my wife told me for the longest time she goes, you, you cannot post any political stuff.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:17
right.

Rich Bennett 41:17
It's or anything negative. It's going to come back and bite you in there.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:20
Right.

Rich Bennett 41:21
And it took me a while and it's funny because locally here for the past two or three local elections, a lot of people kept trying to get me to run for office.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:32
Oh,

Rich Bennett 41:34
and thank God, I didn't because you, I don't care what side of the aisle, you're on you, you could be, Jesus

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:44
Yep,

Rich Bennett 41:44
himself.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:44
they're going to,

Rich Bennett 41:45
and you

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:47
will make enemies you will.

Rich Bennett 41:47
Well, he did make enemies.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:49
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 41:50
I mean you, yeah, you got to be very, very, very careful

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:56
that.

Rich Bennett 41:56
about

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 41:57
Yep.

Rich Bennett 41:58
So with the book because you talk, you think you talk about your music in the book, but none of the lyrics are

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:06
Right?

Rich Bennett 42:06
in the book.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:07
Yeah, I do, like,

Rich Bennett 42:08
there's

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:09
certain songs. I'll break down certain lyrics.

Rich Bennett 42:13
Okay. Okay, and the reason I brought that, bring that up is because a good friend of mine who's an author, his first three books were novels, and then the one book he bought out or put out, which is an awesome book was all here. It was his music.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:32
That's

Rich Bennett 42:33
the

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:33
all

Rich Bennett 42:33
lyrics and talking about him, and I think it's something you're looking

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:39
at. Yeah, that's a

Rich Bennett 42:41
idea. Good library is

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:41
good

Rich Bennett 42:42
huge.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:42
That's a good idea.

Rich Bennett 42:44
Yeah, I mean, why not? And it tells a story.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:47
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 42:48
And the thing is your music, anybody's music, can hit somebody differently than what it was originally planned for, and it can even change over time,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 42:59
right?

Rich Bennett 43:00
I mean, that's, that's what makes an artist, a good artist,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:04
Yep. Yep. Well, what I,

Rich Bennett 43:06
is over time.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:06
what I like to say is any meaning that I have for a song is gone as soon as I release it. It means what it means to you

Rich Bennett 43:17
Exactly.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:18
after I after I come out with it. It could mean like xyz to me about like a relationship or something. But once I put it out, it could mean something about somebody trying to overcome alcoholism or

Rich Bennett 43:33
Yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:33
something like that, you know, so

Rich Bennett 43:35
Oh yeah.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:36
yeah.

Rich Bennett 43:36
That's that's what I love about music.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:38
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 43:39
And the funny thing is even with instrumentals. Because if you listen to instrumentals, if it's a good instrumental,

it'll put words in your head. Does that

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:51
sense?

Rich Bennett 43:51
make

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:51
It does.

Rich Bennett 43:53
And I mean, even you go back to the classical classical music it does. You listen to Mozart or any.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 43:59
I know.

Rich Bennett 44:00
But oh my god. You might have to turn that into some type of rap. Maybe, maybe, no, no, no. Alright, so you've been on a lot of podcasts.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 44:12
I have. Yes.

Rich Bennett 44:13
How come you haven't started one yet?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 44:16
Well, I used to have one. Me and my buddy.

Rich Bennett 44:19
Okay.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 44:19
I had a podcast called BM talk shit talk. Yeah. And you know, like we started doing it, we were doing it before COVID, you know, we

Rich Bennett 44:32
were right

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 44:33
fans of Howard Stern and stuff like that. So we came up with this show and started doing it. And then COVID hit and we stopped doing it. And that's when everybody was doing it. And I'm like, we,

Rich Bennett 44:46
now

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 44:46
we missed a prime time for doing a podcast, but we were doing it for like two years and then just kind of like, you know split split up doing it. Like he's big with his kids and stuff. So like I say,

Rich Bennett 45:00
right.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 45:00
Stop you from hanging out with your kids and stuff. So. But

Rich Bennett 45:05
she does all go ahead.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 45:06
Oh, I was going to say, but we've thought about bringing it back. Maybe recording like once a week or something.

Rich Bennett 45:13
Yeah. Yeah. How many podcasts are out there that you know of that's focused on MS?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 45:22
There's not too many. I know there's a few. I know Christina Applegate actually has a podcast about MS. Yeah.

Rich Bennett 45:35
I didn't know that. Yeah. I think that may be your

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 45:37
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 45:37
calling.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 45:37
it may be

Rich Bennett 45:38
or or even reach out to her. She has guests on MS reach out to her back being on her.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 45:44
Yeah. You know, I was thinking about that, but then I see that she's sponsored by a big drug company.

Rich Bennett 45:51
Oh,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 45:52
Yeah. So I don't know how I'm I don't know how I am about that or not, but

Rich Bennett 45:57
right.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 45:57
you know,

Rich Bennett 45:59
something I've always said if it gives you. You know, that under that nervous feeling, something you don't like about it, then it's

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 46:06
be.

Rich Bennett 46:06
not meant to

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 46:07
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 46:09
Not meant to be. I mean, there's people that when it becomes fans businesses that want to become sponsors of this, and it's because I look at their business ethics first.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 46:18
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 46:19
And I've turned them. I've turned a lot down.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 46:22
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 46:23
It just doesn't

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 46:24
align with what you're. Yeah.

Rich Bennett 46:27
I'm just like, man, I don't need that. All right. So I forgot where I was going here, man. Oh, all right. So for people facing chronic illness or invisible battles. What's one thing you want them to remember after hearing your story

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 46:43
that it doesn't matter what you have. If you put your mind to it, you can do it.

Rich Bennett 46:51
Well, I think that answers my next question. I was going to ask you to.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 46:55
All

Rich Bennett 46:56
Well, I'm going to ask you in any way,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 46:59
right.

Rich Bennett 46:59
but I have a funny feeling. The answer is going to be the same. If someone standing at the edge of their dream, but scared to take the leap, what's your message to them?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 47:07
Do it. Don't wait. Don't wait because I,

Rich Bennett 47:13
People.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 47:14
I never. And this is what I said with music. Even though I'm not a household name, and quote unquote successful, I never want to die and think what if?

Yeah,

Rich Bennett 47:34
sounds like to me that you need to put that that phrase on one of your shirts.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 47:38
All

Rich Bennett 47:40
right. So if somebody wants to listen to your music,

give me three songs that they should listen to first of yours.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 47:52
Three songs. Let's see. The world that I live in, that's off my album, pulmonary embolism. My life's fucked up. That's on the soundtrack CD right now. And Y'all came here to party with B side. That's on my album. The self proclaimed king.

Rich Bennett 48:10
I love that thing. Yeah. Damn. All right. So B side. And those of you listening, you know, he said, yeah, just calling Bob over there, but I just like. That's

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 48:21
cool. I was on a show yesterday with somebody and she's like, oh, I love your name.

Rich Bennett 48:26
Yeah. I mean, I was see if I try to do it, I'd probably be like. ...Z sign. I'll be like at the very

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 48:33
bottom. ...err. *laughs*

Rich Bennett 48:36
Alright, so before I get to my last question which I have no idea what it's gonna be, is there anything you would like to add?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 48:43
Uhm, if you, if you like what you hear, check out the book, check out the music, and just go to my website b-c-i-d-e.com, hit me up. I'm pretty available. I'll always hit up people that hit me up, you know, and I'm an open book,

Rich Bennett 49:04
so. And those of you listening, once you get the book, and the music, make sure you leave

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 49:08
reviews... Yes,

Rich Bennett 49:08
Both.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 49:10
yes.

Rich Bennett 49:10
Leave four reviews. Very important. Alright, so b-side, what I like to do, I have a hundred different questions here. Don't worry, I'm not gonna ask y'all 100. But I want you to it, and I have no idea what the question is gonna be, but somehow or another

a lot of the guests I've had on the question they've picked, somehow another aligns with what we've been talking about.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 49:32
Okay.

Rich Bennett 49:33
So pick a number between 1 and 100, and while I'm looking for that question, tell me why you picked that number.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 49:40
17.

Rich Bennett 49:43
17.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 49:43
Yeah. It.

Rich Bennett 49:45
Why that number?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 49:46
Well, it is a big number in ICP lure for the insane clown policy. I think it's a lucky number, and my brother was born on the 17th of July.

Rich Bennett 50:00
I can't get that song out on my head now, man. 17 by Winger.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:04
Oh.

Rich Bennett 50:05
God.

Alright. Ok, that's a good question. What's a question you often ask yourself?

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:15
Hmm?

Rich Bennett 50:21
It's next? Alright, Goldberg. Oh no, that would be who's

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:23
What's next?

Rich Bennett 50:23
next? Nevermind.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:25
Snow, what's next? What am I doing? What am I doing next?

Rich Bennett 50:30
And that's the thing with your father,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:33
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 50:33
with your father

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:34
My

Rich Bennett 50:34
or father in law? Your

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:35
father.

Rich Bennett 50:35
father? You know that could turn into a podcast as well.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:40
Not, yeah,

Rich Bennett 50:42
you never know.

I know. Man. Man, B side, I want to thank you. It's been an honor. If you ever make it down this way, hit me

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:52
Absolutely.

Rich Bennett 50:52
up. Well, we'll go get some good food. I don't know if you like seafood or not,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 50:57
Love it.

Rich Bennett 50:58
but well, you know, you've never had crabs until you've come to Maryland. That did not sound right. Let me rephrase that. You've never had good Maryland steamed crabs. You've never had good steamed crabs unless you've gotten them here in Maryland.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 51:11
Oh, I love crabs too.

Rich Bennett 51:14
Wow.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 51:14
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 51:16
we went to New Orleans. I wanted to try boiled because they boil.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 51:20
Yes, yes.

Rich Bennett 51:22
And I guess they weren't in season or whatever, but I'd never did get them.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 51:27
Really?

Rich Bennett 51:28
So, yes, I'm going to have to go down there again. And yeah, because I wanted them in oysters,

but weren't able to get them, but I was able to get the crawfish pie.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 51:40
Oh,

Rich Bennett 51:42
Oh,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 51:42
but that was a New Orleans is one of my favorite places.

Rich Bennett 51:47
only been there once and I need to go back because there's so many. And we were there for a week, but

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 51:52
I've

Rich Bennett 51:52
there were so many places I didn't get to, like I wanted to go to the Jazz Museum.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 51:58
Oh, that's got to be cool. Yeah.

Rich Bennett 52:00
Look, I think the Katrina Museum, we went to the World War II Museum, which was. And that's a

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 52:06
event.

Rich Bennett 52:06
whole day

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 52:07
Oh, wow.

Rich Bennett 52:07
It's awesome, but I've also wanted to try because we went to the restaurants where everybody goes to, I want to try the old, I like to call them the mom and pop.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 52:19
Yes, no chains.

Rich Bennett 52:21
Yes, because I've always heard those are the best and I wanted to try the Sazarek cocktail.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 52:30
Oh, okay.

Rich Bennett 52:31
Because that's where it's made for and we were right around the corner from the Sazarek bar, but I never did get my cock. Just means I got to go back.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 52:40
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 52:40
And I wanted to work while I was down there. All the people I kept meeting up, but I was told I was not allowed to bring up.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 52:47
Ah,

Rich Bennett 52:48
I could have sat down every day and just talked with different people down there. It

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 52:53

Rich Bennett 52:53
was a,

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 52:54
bet. I bet.

Rich Bennett 52:55
But that's another trip. So, man, Beside, thanks a lot, brother.

Robert 'B-Cide' Cardillo 53:00
Welcome, man. It's been a pleasure. You're a great host, man.

Rich Bennett 53:03
