Reed and Kat Neubaum’s 3 Keys to Better Health

Reed and Kat Neubaum’s 3 Keys to Better Health

Key Takeaways

  • Sustainable health begins with consistently supporting three core and connected areas: function, fuel, and fitness.
  • Drs. Reed and Kat Neubaum emphasize that body awareness and education are essential before making lasting behavioral changes.
  • Simple, free foundational habits like regular physical activity, proper hydration, and adequate sleep should always take priority over trendy wellness fixes.
  • Scheduling workouts ahead of time and removing the reliance on daily motivation helps build long-term discipline and consistency.
  • Listening to your body and addressing pain early prevents minor issues from turning into major, catastrophic injuries.

Better health does not require following every new trend or changing your entire life overnight. According to Drs. Reed and Kat Neubaum, it begins by consistently supporting three connected areas: function, fuel, and fitness.

In this episode of Conversations with Rich Bennett, Reed and Kat of Ultimate Health join Rich and first-time cohost Nicole Valentine for an informative and entertaining look at building sustainable health. They explain the difference between being fit and functioning well, why pain should not automatically be ignored, and how sleep, hydration, movement, and nutrition form the foundation for long-term wellness.

You’ll discover:

  • How function, fuel, and fitness affect one another
  • Why consistency produces better results than quick fixes
  • How to begin improving your health without spending money
  • Why scheduling exercise works better than waiting for motivation
  • When professional guidance may help you move beyond pain or limitations

The conversation also explores chiropractic care, rehabilitation, mental fitness, personalized health goals, and Rich’s possible adventure into aerial yoga.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the 3 keys to better health according to Reed and Kat Neubaum?

The three keys to better health are function, fuel, and fitness. These interconnected areas form the foundation for long-term wellness and sustainable health habits.

What is the difference between function and fitness?

Function refers to how well your body moves, your access to range of motion, and freedom from pain, whereas fitness relates to how much physical work and endurance your body can perform.

Why is consistency more important than quick fixes in health?

Quick fixes and wellness trends rarely stick because they bypass the necessary learning and habit-building phases. True, long-term health relies on consistent, manageable daily behaviors.

What are the most important foundational health habits to start with?

The most important basics to establish first are regular physical activity (such as walking), proper hydration, and adequate sleep before exploring more complex health routines.

Conversations with Rich Bennett
Rich Bennett

Wendy & Rich 0:01
Coming to you from the Freedom Federal Credit Union Studios, Hartford County Living presents, Conversations with Rich Bennett. (Laughter)

Rich Bennett 0:27
Alright, so today, I'm actually joined by, uh, New Cahoots, who you've heard on the podcast before, Nicole Valen, and we have two people that are back, he's been on, this is his third time. This is her second time, it's the Boy's second time,

Kat Neubaum 0:46
(Inaudible)

Rich Bennett 0:47
and we know we're gonna hear from them eventually too, so I have, I have Dr. Reed and Kat, new ball, I'm on from, I'm gonna

Reed Neubaum 0:54
do

Rich Bennett 0:54
get, why

Reed Neubaum 0:55
I, why do I always

Rich Bennett 0:55
this

Reed Neubaum 0:55
mess

Rich Bennett 0:56
up? Ultimate health, that's it,

Kat Neubaum 0:59
(Laughter)

Rich Bennett 1:00
just,

Kat Neubaum 1:00
Ultimate health.

Rich Bennett 1:02
Right, that's, I said, it's a wellness center. Sure,

Kat Neubaum 1:05
yeah, sure, yeah,

Nicole Valan 1:06
yeah, there,

Kat Neubaum 1:06
it,

Rich Bennett 1:07
but he's got words underneath of it too.

Kat Neubaum 1:09
Yeah, that was just

Rich Bennett 1:10
like,

Kat Neubaum 1:10
kind of

Rich Bennett 1:10
like... Look, I didn't have my glasses on, I did it, okay, so today we're gonna be talking about

Nicole Valan 1:17
this.

Rich Bennett 1:17
Fs, who actually rebroaded this up the last time

Reed Neubaum 1:20
on,

Rich Bennett 1:20
you were got shown it briefly, but I,

Reed Neubaum 1:23
and

Rich Bennett 1:23
and I

Reed Neubaum 1:23

Rich Bennett 1:23
said,

Reed Neubaum 1:23
said,

Rich Bennett 1:24
you guys gotta come back on because I

Reed Neubaum 1:25
poor,

Rich Bennett 1:25
think it's a especially when it comes to health. Function, I'm, I'm gonna do this without looking at my cheat sheet, function, fuel, fitness. Don't give me,

Nicole Valan 1:38
that's

Rich Bennett 1:41
cheating.

Kat Neubaum 1:41
I'm trying to help you.

Nicole Valan 1:43
Sure, it's right

Rich Bennett 1:44
here.

Nicole Valan 1:44
here

Rich Bennett 1:44
Yeah,

Nicole Valan 1:45
in

Rich Bennett 1:45

Nicole Valan 1:45
Right,

Rich Bennett 1:45
know.

Nicole Valan 1:46
I'm,

Reed Neubaum 1:47
okay,

Rich Bennett 1:47
you know I'll be on health as it is, Alright,

Kat Neubaum 1:49
so.

Rich Bennett 1:50
so what do we want to start with?

Nicole Valan 1:51
Function, fuel,

Reed Neubaum 1:52
or business?

Rich Bennett 1:53
Or why all three are important?

Reed Neubaum 1:56
Well, I think what Nicole was talking about even already was a good way. It's because they're so overlapping, it's one of the key ones to differentiate is function and fitness.

Rich Bennett 2:09
Okay,

Reed Neubaum 2:10
and so one of the, well, function is basically what you key. It's not necessarily like how much you can do. That's what fitness is, it's like, yeah, how much can you do with your body?

Rich Bennett 2:21
Right.

Reed Neubaum 2:22
How much work can you do, and like what positions can you get in? And like, yeah, but it's more, it's more, yeah, what you can do versus function is like, can you move without, like, do you have access to your range of motion? Do you have freedom from pain? Like, can you move and

Nicole Valan 2:43

Reed Neubaum 2:43
not hurt

Nicole Valan 2:44
hurt.

Reed Neubaum 2:44
all the time?

Nicole Valan 2:45
I think too, it's people becoming more familiar. Like, that's what you're kind of,

Reed Neubaum 2:49
people

Nicole Valan 2:50
becoming more familiar with what their body, how their body is, like, how their body functions. We all walk in and we think, Oh, yeah, I can do that back band, or, Oh, yeah, I have that rotation just structurally being mindful. And then people recognizing that and then building on top of it.

Reed Neubaum 3:08
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 3:09
So this is what when you're doing the stuff that you think you're doing, you shouldn't be doing your doctor doesn't yell at you. Don't you be pointing a mean to call? All right, let me ask you this. So prime example, let's say you're doing an exercise and you end up, you hurt yourself. Should you still be

Reed Neubaum 3:25
do it? Let's

Rich Bennett 3:25
doing so

Reed Neubaum 3:25
say

Rich Bennett 3:26
you

Reed Neubaum 3:26
you're doing

Rich Bennett 3:27
aerial yoga and

Nicole Valan 3:28
all of a

Rich Bennett 3:29
get

Nicole Valan 3:29
sudden

Rich Bennett 3:29
you

Nicole Valan 3:29
you

Rich Bennett 3:29
get tennis elbow from it. Should you still be doing

Reed Neubaum 3:32
it?

Kat Neubaum 3:34
Uh oh.

Reed Neubaum 3:34
The

Nicole Valan 3:34

Reed Neubaum 3:35
tendon. in

Nicole Valan 3:35
feel

Reed Neubaum 3:35
the room.

Nicole Valan 3:40
feel like this is going to be a really fun show

Kat Neubaum 3:45
for

Reed Neubaum 3:46
key to get a head of, cause,

Rich Bennett 3:48
yeah.

Reed Neubaum 3:48
It does need rest, but oftentimes you can't really get it. It's not even

Rich Bennett 3:56
really. Get the rest.

Reed Neubaum 3:58
Right.

Rich Bennett 3:59
So what do you do if you can't get the rest, then

Reed Neubaum 4:04
you try and stack the deck in your favor to get some rest, you can do a lot.

Nicole Valan 4:09
But I think it's so much of what you're saying is geared towards body awareness, health awareness. And I think we've cut ourselves short in that area, you know, as far as taking time to really understand what we can do. And then like you said, stacking the deck so that if you know you have this going on, you're not going out and lifting then 50 pounds of groceries and solely Heavy

Reed Neubaum 4:35
bringing.

Nicole Valan 4:36
boxes in

Reed Neubaum 4:37
Well, I'm so glad you said it to just that word awareness. That's where you really start to make changes. You

Rich Bennett 4:45
yeah,

Reed Neubaum 4:45
can't change anything if you're not aware of it. So all of these things start with education and awareness. It's like first learn about it. Then think about it more.

Nicole Valan 4:55
yeah.

Reed Neubaum 4:55
And then behaviors change and actions are taken. People skip right the little tactics and nothing sticks. It's a learning and awareness

Kat Neubaum 5:06
habit

Reed Neubaum 5:07
that is really the long term piece.

Nicole Valan 5:09
I think it's taking the stigma out of asking those questions and thinking that somehow you have a limitation or that if you acknowledge something, you can't do something. An really kind of educating yourself to them, find out what your options are, how you can move differently, how you can do something similar or even if you're talking about a muscle group, you may have different range of motion but can work that same muscle group.

Rich Bennett 5:42
Okay. Now I

Reed Neubaum 5:45
told

Rich Bennett 5:46
you about this before because I was doing total gym for

Kat Neubaum 5:49
a while,

Rich Bennett 5:50
but it kept messing me up.

Kat Neubaum 5:51
Yep.

Rich Bennett 5:52
A then I went to the vibe. No, I was doing the walk in the vibration board, supposed to get back to doing yoga.

Kat Neubaum 6:01
You said you would last time.

Rich Bennett 6:02
I know. Well, somebody said they were going to keep getting on me and messaging me and reminding

Kat Neubaum 6:07
me. I did once.

Rich Bennett 6:12
You just said,

Kat Neubaum 6:13
don't make me scroll.

Rich Bennett 6:14
Okay. Never mind. Nicole and I were talking about this before you guys before Cat got you lost in you my leg. Um, how?

Nicole Valan 6:25
Just lit it right.

Rich Bennett 6:28
Cuz I always had the bad habit of doing the stuff that I shouldn't. Because it's I know you owe me all that. But

Nicole Valan 6:38
I don't

Reed Neubaum 6:39
like

Rich Bennett 6:41
to help you. I like to help people out.

Kat Neubaum 6:42
I know, that's your that's your downfall.

Rich Bennett 6:46
What can I do different

Kat Neubaum 6:47
then? I know. I

Rich Bennett 6:48
told

Kat Neubaum 6:49
know.

Rich Bennett 6:49
to do it

Kat Neubaum 6:49
No, you're

Rich Bennett 6:49
themselves.

Kat Neubaum 6:49
No, no,

Rich Bennett 6:52
yeah, I'm better sleeping if that's.

Kat Neubaum 6:55
Well, yeah,

Rich Bennett 6:57
all right. So function and then we had what's better to go after function? Fuel?

Reed Neubaum 7:03
What kind of tying in

Rich Bennett 7:04
fitness fitness?

Reed Neubaum 7:05
These two go together right? So

Rich Bennett 7:07
right,

Reed Neubaum 7:08
if you build your fitness, so things like strength and endurance than your function goes up.

Rich Bennett 7:16
Right.

Reed Neubaum 7:17
Muscles aren't always overworked and tight because of that, or you stretch enough, you move your body enough so that you have moved fully. So that when you do step off the curb, funny, it's not some catastrophic injury. That's a function thing. Right. So you can be you can have really, really strong, like, okay, I'm I've a body builder who has really, really strong calves, but really, really stiff ankles, high fitness, low function of the ankle. They can't move their ankle, but it's

Rich Bennett 7:50
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 7:50
just they're really, really thin. If they step off a curb, weird, they might break somebody versus someone who has a balance between those two, you can have really, really strong calves and a very mobile and stable ankle. It functions really well,

Rich Bennett 8:06
right?

Reed Neubaum 8:07
And then you step off the curb or really roll your ankle and then it's sore for a day or two and nothing that happened versus that can be

Rich Bennett 8:15
the

Reed Neubaum 8:15
yeah, not balancing those two.

Nicole Valan 8:18
Do you feel I see it, but I'm just curious from your end, do you feel that fitness has kind of entered the chat in a big way? Like, people are constantly curious now. They're asking questions. They want to age in a healthy way and they really want to be smart about being able to be mobile and functioning.

Reed Neubaum 8:45
I think

Kat Neubaum 8:45
it's trendy now. Like people are getting more into it, but

still

Reed Neubaum 8:53
not getting that the basics are just consistency.

Kat Neubaum 8:58
Yeah, consistency is the

Reed Neubaum 8:59
I'm,

Kat Neubaum 8:59
biggest.

Reed Neubaum 9:00
pe. The trendy piece is some people are understanding but executing.

Nicole Valan 9:07
It's finding

Reed Neubaum 9:08
that

Nicole Valan 9:08
something

Reed Neubaum 9:10
you

Nicole Valan 9:10
do as a long term, long term life pattern,

Reed Neubaum 9:14
but people even understand that.

Nicole Valan 9:16
Right.

Reed Neubaum 9:17
It's still have trouble executing it. That's hard for anyone.

Kat Neubaum 9:20
That just

Reed Neubaum 9:21
up

Kat Neubaum 9:21
comes

Reed Neubaum 9:21
to get right.

Kat Neubaum 9:22
Discipline.

Reed Neubaum 9:23
Yeah. I usually try to be a cheerleader and say it's really like the the minimum to like check the boxes like the

Rich Bennett 9:30
really.

Reed Neubaum 9:30
really

Rich Bennett 9:31
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 9:32
Things

Nicole Valan 9:32
right.

Reed Neubaum 9:33
It's pretty low. It's just you need to be very consistent.

Nicole Valan 9:38
It's moving.

Reed Neubaum 9:39
Deliberate.

Nicole Valan 9:39
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 9:41
Yeah, and yeah, moving is the biggest thing you can do for your health. I think

Nicole Valan 9:46
and I think finding like support systems are community. It really helps drive the focus. But, but then not taking I guess like the water cooler popularity kickback of it all. Like if you do one thing one time,it's  not really going to make an impact. You have to find what your program is that works for you.

Rich Bennett 10:11
With the fitness part because I mean we were talking about, you know, muscular fitness

Reed Neubaum 10:16
and everything.

Rich Bennett 10:17
What about

Reed Neubaum 10:17
as

Rich Bennett 10:17
as far

Reed Neubaum 10:18
And

Rich Bennett 10:19
even mental

Reed Neubaum 10:19
fitness.

Rich Bennett 10:21
Play a big part in that.

Reed Neubaum 10:23
Oh, I mean sure. Yeah. No, I don't want us. I'm not saying fitness

Rich Bennett 10:27
Right.

Reed Neubaum 10:27
That

Nicole Valan 10:28
category.

Reed Neubaum 10:29
It's like, yeah, can you be picking things up, moving heavy things, that's a piece of fitness in my

Rich Bennett 10:35
right.

Reed Neubaum 10:37
like carrying the groceries. If you want to get

Kat Neubaum 10:39
It's

Reed Neubaum 10:39
like

Kat Neubaum 10:39
important.

Reed Neubaum 10:39
functional, I'm a one trip kind of guy. So Want

Rich Bennett 10:41
I'm

Reed Neubaum 10:42
to do

Rich Bennett 10:42
the

Reed Neubaum 10:42
that.

Rich Bennett 10:42
way

Reed Neubaum 10:43
I want to be able to carry that. I actually have him on him on my back and him on my front because she was not capable of not Not wanted at the moment. Normally that's not the It hurts

Kat Neubaum 10:57
hearing both of them.

Reed Neubaum 10:59
It hurts

Kat Neubaum 11:01
Oh,

Rich Bennett 11:02
when you're when the kids say, oh, oh,

Kat Neubaum 11:04
honestly, all me.

Rich Bennett 11:05
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 11:05
I don't want to be able to do those things, but I also want to be able to go really, really long hikes. I want to be able to do my job and not be tired, not be Gast at the top of stairs. Now we're getting into be able to run a mile

Rich Bennett 11:23
or you don't want

Reed Neubaum 11:23
be Me,

Rich Bennett 11:23
to is that what I'm hearing?

Reed Neubaum 11:26
Much but like if I needed to

Nicole Valan 11:28
Yeah, there were bears and tie you know chasing you

Reed Neubaum 11:31
yeah,

Nicole Valan 11:31
for your safety, you want to

Reed Neubaum 11:33
yeah, somewhere. Prepare for that, you know, so that's where fitness is also like where the benchmarks are And then

Kat Neubaum 11:43
independent

Reed Neubaum 11:44
verse engineer your fitness plan into that.

Nicole Valan 11:46
But I also think that's some like that goes back to the basic Statement

Reed Neubaum 11:50
we

Nicole Valan 11:51
of how Your own

what you need so when you're talking about

Reed Neubaum 11:58
And

Nicole Valan 11:59
the the mindful piece Everybody's

Reed Neubaum 12:04
Being

Nicole Valan 12:04
a hike that's that's probably a mindful piece for you being

Reed Neubaum 12:08
to

Nicole Valan 12:08
able Round you clear your head all the oxygen, but I think it's people becoming aware of what they need and then asking how to

Reed Neubaum 12:19
it

Nicole Valan 12:19
do

Rich Bennett 12:20
The mindful part too you have to And I'm going to go to my days in the military

I would When I was exercising

Pain no game and then I was told no when you feel pained you have to stop because your body's

Reed Neubaum 12:44
But

Rich Bennett 12:45
and that was hard to do it's still hard to do at times But I mean you I'm sure you've had

the things were

Kat Neubaum 12:55
taught

Rich Bennett 13:00
There's nothing I

Nicole Valan 13:05
With

Rich Bennett 13:16
Because if you're Yeah

what

Kat Neubaum 13:23
I'm

Rich Bennett 13:24
you

Kat Neubaum 13:24
not

Rich Bennett 13:24
give

Kat Neubaum 13:24
giving you

Rich Bennett 13:24
me that look is if I'm

Reed Neubaum 13:26
eating

Rich Bennett 13:26
not

Meeting everything because the good stuff Smoked

Kat Neubaum 13:37
a lot of smoked barbecued

Rich Bennett 13:40
Now I haven't been doing as much barbecue as I

Kat Neubaum 13:44
though

Rich Bennett 13:44
used to

Kat Neubaum 13:45
I've

Rich Bennett 13:51
Yeah, if I fry something strictly

Reed Neubaum 13:54
in

Rich Bennett 13:56
the air fryer, yeah, nothing

Reed Neubaum 13:58
'cause

Rich Bennett 14:01
in mid-d--- even with the air fryer, like last night, there's a little chicken. What do they call it? Yeah, like we've got a little chicken. What do they call it? 'Cause

Reed Neubaum 14:11
we cut up the breasts.

Rich Bennett 14:11
But they're not breaded tenders, bacon.

And then with Swiss cheese on it. know. Why, is it like a

Reed Neubaum 14:20
I don't

Rich Bennett 14:20
chicken corn on blue, but with no ham?

Reed Neubaum 14:22
Crease on top

Rich Bennett 14:23
it.

Reed Neubaum 14:23
of

Rich Bennett 14:23
Yeah! Why?

Nicole Valan 14:27
I mean it was so good until it wasn't. What's up? We're so close!

Reed Neubaum 14:32

Rich Bennett 14:32
didn't even do New York strip of the air fryer.

Nicole Valan 14:34
Which... With bacon and cheese, I just asking for the audience.

Rich Bennett 14:39
To a New York strip on, I'm gonna ruin

Nicole Valan 14:41
this.

Rich Bennett 14:47
it. In the air fryer. So, I couldn't find, he's like, ehm,

Kat Neubaum 14:51
Just make

Rich Bennett 14:51
wook, yeah, I'll just--

Look, everything is good with

Kat Neubaum 14:56
bacon.

Rich Bennett 14:59
Even Oreo cookies are good

Reed Neubaum 15:00
you--

Rich Bennett 15:01
if

Nicole Valan 15:03
That's new.

Rich Bennett 15:06
They're very good. Gotta be the megas stuff for the Oreo or so. Yeah, we're bu-- Well, I didn't--

Reed Neubaum 15:13
No, I didn't spit out--

I'm

Rich Bennett 15:18
going to shut up and have the fuel part because, apparently, I'm giving bad-- I'm scared! Man!

Nicole Valan 15:24
This is what not to do.

Rich Bennett 15:27
Don't eat the bacon

Reed Neubaum 15:29
wrap.

Rich Bennett 15:32
I'm trying to Oreo

Nicole Valan 15:32
cookie. Smothered

Reed Neubaum 15:33
in cheese. Fools to say we can split.

Rich Bennett 15:34
Ew!

Nicole Valan 15:36
Oreo

Rich Bennett 15:38
cookie, smothered

Reed Neubaum 15:38
cheese.

Rich Bennett 15:39
in

Nicole Valan 15:40
No, I mean--

Rich Bennett 15:41
I'm

Reed Neubaum 15:41
try.

Rich Bennett 15:41
gonna have to Damn!

Reed Neubaum 15:47
a good segue

Kat Neubaum 15:48
No,

Reed Neubaum 15:48
because

Kat Neubaum 15:49
there's

Reed Neubaum 15:49
there's really-- It's a good way to think about it, even fuel split into two categories. There's kind of the inflammatory anti-inflammatory type stop. And then there's

Nicole Valan 16:01
the--

Reed Neubaum 16:02
Like, weight loss, muscle gain, you know, are you getting enough protein supporting that-- That's more like the tie on the fitness realm. And the inflammation, hydration, like, t counts as fuel in that. You know, it's like, are you hydrated? Are your muscles in tendons in cartilage hydrated? And you're functioning better. You know, so that's the-- Overlapse with fuel and chance for injury. It's over here, and then, you know, like, calories and calories.

Rich Bennett 16:38
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 16:40
Your fat, pot and half percent. It's a mass. And that kind of stuff is overlapping with the fitness in people. Okay, so-- Because

Rich Bennett 16:50
when it comes-- Because when it comes to the fuel

Reed Neubaum 16:51
part, any

Rich Bennett 16:53
healthy--

Reed Neubaum 16:54
You know, he

Rich Bennett 16:56
or so many different

Reed Neubaum 16:58
things.

Rich Bennett 16:58
Then, you know, when

Reed Neubaum 17:00
Do you

Rich Bennett 17:00
you're

Reed Neubaum 17:01
drink

Rich Bennett 17:01
drinking

Reed Neubaum 17:02
water?

Rich Bennett 17:02
water,

Reed Neubaum 17:03
Water?

Rich Bennett 17:04
Have

Reed Neubaum 17:04
Have you

Rich Bennett 17:04
you ever--

Reed Neubaum 17:05
ever heard that? Have

Nicole Valan 17:06
they heard

Reed Neubaum 17:07
it? Yeah.

Nicole Valan 17:07
Of course they--

Reed Neubaum 17:08
You know, when you're like, "No,

Rich Bennett 17:10
The cat was like, "Oh

Nicole Valan 17:11
you

Rich Bennett 17:11
yeah,

Reed Neubaum 17:11
can't."

Rich Bennett 17:11
and Reasons, I think I may have heard about it."

Reed Neubaum 17:14
Well, it's more like I have-- I have really--

Rich Bennett 17:16
No, either of

Reed Neubaum 17:17

Rich Bennett 17:17
us.

Reed Neubaum 17:17
mean, I understand that--

Yeah, I haven't really--

Rich Bennett 17:23
Right.

Kat Neubaum 17:26
Big,

Reed Neubaum 17:27
PH

Nicole Valan 17:27
huge.

Kat Neubaum 17:27
Yeah,

Reed Neubaum 17:27
stuff. yeah. Yeah. Like body, PH, in such a

Rich Bennett 17:29
world.

Reed Neubaum 17:30
pyramid

Rich Bennett 17:30
Actually, alkaline, I think,

Reed Neubaum 17:31
It's

Rich Bennett 17:31
battery.

Reed Neubaum 17:31
our mostly really, really acidic, so you do the alkaline to get more neutral, something

Nicole Valan 17:35
a--

Reed Neubaum 17:35
like that. That's

Nicole Valan 17:36
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 17:36
Duplification for sure, but-- Yeah. Your metabolism, yeah.

Nicole Valan 17:40
It sits in the body.

Reed Neubaum 17:44
But carbon alkaline is basic, obviously acid. So acidic and basic means like alkaline.

Rich Bennett 17:52
Okay.

Reed Neubaum 17:53
But

Kat Neubaum 17:54
I think people--

Reed Neubaum 17:56
So I don't know. Yeah,

Kat Neubaum 17:57
I think--

Reed Neubaum 17:58
grab onto it. And then,

Kat Neubaum 18:00
Like,

Reed Neubaum 18:00
like--

Kat Neubaum 18:00
oh,

Reed Neubaum 18:00
drink--

Kat Neubaum 18:00
I need to

Reed Neubaum 18:00
You don't want water now. No, you

Kat Neubaum 18:03
You

Reed Neubaum 18:03
need

Kat Neubaum 18:03
need to

Reed Neubaum 18:03
to--

Kat Neubaum 18:03
get good sleep. You need to walk. You need to--

Rich Bennett 18:06
Right.

Kat Neubaum 18:06
Water,

Reed Neubaum 18:07
eat.

Kat Neubaum 18:07
you need to Before you even go dive into this little minute detail.

Nicole Valan 18:12
Okay. But don't you think that that gets presented in an easy

Kat Neubaum 18:17
Yeah.

Nicole Valan 18:18
way?

Rich Bennett 18:18
Oh, yeah.

Nicole Valan 18:18
Like if I

Kat Neubaum 18:19

Nicole Valan 18:19
do

Kat Neubaum 18:19
quick

Nicole Valan 18:20
this,

Kat Neubaum 18:20
fix.

Nicole Valan 18:20
yeah, it's like a 60 seconds.

Yeah.

Rich Bennett 18:29
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 18:32
So I can drink less water. That's what they end up doing.

Rich Bennett 18:37
Okay.

Nicole Valan 18:37
But that's, that's what, that's the way.

Reed Neubaum 18:41
Yeah.

Nicole Valan 18:42
Is it's like, oh, you can drink that one. You don't need to drink water. No, you you still need the other ounce

Kat Neubaum 18:53
of.

Nicole Valan 18:54
Pumped out.

Kat Neubaum 18:55
Yes.

Rich Bennett 18:56
I'll stick with my good old.

Kat Neubaum 18:59
Perfect. Just drinking up of it.

Reed Neubaum 19:10
Oh, I, I, I,

Rich Bennett 19:10
I, I got

Reed Neubaum 19:10
get

Rich Bennett 19:11
it. No, I

Reed Neubaum 19:12
to get

Kat Neubaum 19:12
some. We got a lot of

Rich Bennett 19:14
No, but most

Reed Neubaum 19:15
people.

Rich Bennett 19:15
people will not drink the water out of their well. Yeah.

Kat Neubaum 19:19
There's a, there's a whole rabbit.

Reed Neubaum 19:22
What?

Kat Neubaum 19:22
Like

Rich Bennett 19:22
crap?

Kat Neubaum 19:22
all the

Rich Bennett 19:23
Yeah.

Kat Neubaum 19:24
Community. It's like, don't drink anything except this purified ram, blah, blah, blah. No.

Rich Bennett 19:30
No, I have all the people I know want water. Really. Second one, my brother used to.

I'm gonna say where you're at. There probably are some underwater springs there. There's definitely enough of them around here. That could be very good.

Nicole Valan 19:51
Everything in moderation.

Rich Bennett 19:54
Well, except

Nicole Valan 19:54
Well, water,

Kat Neubaum 19:56
for.

Nicole Valan 19:57
tap water. No, but I think if you, to me, it's like if you're getting water. It shouldn't matter what your source is.

Rich Bennett 20:03
Well, yeah,

Nicole Valan 20:04
drink water,

Kat Neubaum 20:05
right?

Reed Neubaum 20:05
And that's the

Kat Neubaum 20:07
start there.

Rich Bennett 20:07
Especially for the fitness because you got to stay hydrated.

Reed Neubaum 20:10
Well, you remind me of, so it's like the basics, right. There's kind of a higher I think of like the food here.

Yeah. Th the base, right? There's a good foundation. All of them are, it's regular physical activity. Generally, it's sleep and hydration. It's like, are you doing those three things?

Rich Bennett 20:34
yeah,

Reed Neubaum 20:34
Then stop talking about

Kat Neubaum 20:35
something.

Reed Neubaum 20:36
These other things. It's like you're not even getting that you've laid the foundation. I'm just saying like I'm trying to gear. Guide more people to those three things are the things.

Nicole Valan 20:47
Yes.

Reed Neubaum 20:48
Only do, only consider doing other things until you are checking those three boxes.

Nicole Valan 20:52
It's

Reed Neubaum 20:52

Nicole Valan 20:57
always

not. It's like you're saying start with your,

Reed Neubaum 21:02
your

Nicole Valan 21:03
foundation,

Reed Neubaum 21:04
yeah.

Nicole Valan 21:05
Like I'm pretty. That to put the next

Rich Bennett 21:08
I'd

Nicole Valan 21:08
level.

Rich Bennett 21:08
be a shorthouse if you start

Reed Neubaum 21:10
the

Rich Bennett 21:10
with

Reed Neubaum 21:10
roof.

Nicole Valan 21:10
I'm like, I really don't think you can miss. Can't take out floors.

Reed Neubaum 21:17
Yeah, but it's educating, it's educating first.

Rich Bennett 21:20
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 21:20
It's like, you can't skip those things. It's like, just

Kat Neubaum 21:25
on the

Reed Neubaum 21:25
record

Kat Neubaum 21:25
record.

Reed Neubaum 21:28
Those are the, it's hydration and

Kat Neubaum 21:31
sleep sleep.

Reed Neubaum 21:38
is regular physical activity.

Kat Neubaum 21:40
So

Reed Neubaum 21:40
There's a certain amount like

Nicole Valan 21:41
yeah walking, I mean,

Reed Neubaum 21:43
is say anyone at any level, they can do something for free.

Rich Bennett 21:46
that's

Reed Neubaum 21:46
So

Rich Bennett 21:47
a good

Reed Neubaum 21:47
these are

Rich Bennett 21:47
point

Reed Neubaum 21:47
all free things.

Rich Bennett 21:49
Yeah,

Nicole Valan 21:49
the idea is start somewhere.

Reed Neubaum 21:53
Yeah,

Nicole Valan 21:53
and you can start at your kitchen sink.

Rich Bennett 21:57
That's a good point. I never thought about that. Yeah, cuz a lot of times, especially when it comes to part. The fitness part don't

Reed Neubaum 22:06
have the.

Rich Bennett 22:09
You have the time you can make the

Reed Neubaum 22:11
time. I

Rich Bennett 22:12
mean time

Reed Neubaum 22:13
is.

Rich Bennett 22:14
Money in a way, but your health is more important. So you can find the free time to do it.

Kat Neubaum 22:21
that as an excuse all the

Rich Bennett 22:22
Oh,

Kat Neubaum 22:22
time. I don't

Rich Bennett 22:22
yeah,

Kat Neubaum 22:22
have time to do this. I have, I have kids. I have a

Reed Neubaum 22:25
job. Okay,

Kat Neubaum 22:28
okay. That's fine, but you're just not

Reed Neubaum 22:30
priority,

Rich Bennett 22:30
there.

Kat Neubaum 22:31
I'm prioritizing

Reed Neubaum 22:32
it.

Nicole Valan 22:33
It's also is go back to when you're in an airplane, right? And what do they tell you about your kids,

Reed Neubaum 22:41
you're.

Nicole Valan 22:42
whoever So if you don't put the mask first, you're not going to be able

Reed Neubaum 22:48
to do

Nicole Valan 22:49
those things.

Rich Bennett 22:50
I always wondered about that, too,

Nicole Valan 22:52
but we did.

Rich Bennett 22:54
We put them on my

Reed Neubaum 22:55
kids.

Rich Bennett 22:57
Right you

Kat Neubaum 22:58
got it. So

Reed Neubaum 23:00
we

Nicole Valan 23:01
talked about it earlier which is is like if you don't listen to that then you end up costing yourself.

Rich Bennett 23:07
Yeah

Nicole Valan 23:08
yeah you in a

Reed Neubaum 23:09
recovery

Nicole Valan 23:11
lay that foundation you didn't start start small it's nobody's

Reed Neubaum 23:15
just

Nicole Valan 23:16
telling you you have to go run the marathon or the mile. It's you're going

Reed Neubaum 23:20
sleep.

Nicole Valan 23:20
to

Reed Neubaum 23:21
When you

Nicole Valan 23:22
get up, walk to the sink and you get your glass of water.

Rich Bennett 23:28

Kat Neubaum 24:45
We don't have time.

Rich Bennett 24:47
We're

Kat Neubaum 24:48
not prioritizing. We don't have time. That's not a priority right now in our life.

Rich Bennett 24:53
I was talking to Read, not you,

Nicole Valan 24:57
but

Rich Bennett 24:57
with I mean with all the

Reed Neubaum 25:00
how we would it's

Nicole Valan 25:02
But that's a really good question right so

Rich Bennett 25:05
you could

Nicole Valan 25:05
you

Rich Bennett 25:05
do it.

Nicole Valan 25:06
both work together you have two boys. How do you balance all of those things? So we're sitting here talking about your clients coming in and having to do the very same thing. How do you do it?

Kat Neubaum 25:20
I'm going to get up at 5 a. m. and I decide

Reed Neubaum 25:23
whether I'm

Kat Neubaum 25:24
working out like it's the

Reed Neubaum 25:26
decision as the decision has already been

Kat Neubaum 25:27
made been made. I'm not waking out. Oh, I okay. Yeah, I do feel like working out today. No. Do you think I ever feel like

Rich Bennett 25:32
Schedule

Kat Neubaum 25:32
it?

Nicole Valan 25:32
it.

Kat Neubaum 25:34
I may I may I already

Reed Neubaum 25:35
No,

Kat Neubaum 25:35
made the decision. I'm a I'm a discipline person. If I say I'm doing it, I'm doing it. I'm very habitual.

Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 25:50
The

Kat Neubaum 25:50
magic number for cardio.

Reed Neubaum 25:52
It is like most

Kat Neubaum 25:56
benefits

Reed Neubaum 25:56
benefits health.

Rich Bennett 25:57
Right.

Reed Neubaum 25:57
It's a

Kat Neubaum 25:58
cardio mask walking three times a week or walk.

Reed Neubaum 26:07
Pretty much all

Kat Neubaum 26:08
everything.

Rich Bennett 26:09
Really? Yeah. Can you bring it down more because I like to walk every day but not 45 minutes each time.

Reed Neubaum 26:17
It's really okay. I mean you can also another way to think of it. Well, you do want to go for longer

Rich Bennett 26:23
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 26:24
walks occasionally so make sure that you're taking long enough walks to eventually get the heart rate elevated for a long period.

Rich Bennett 26:32
Okay,

Reed Neubaum 26:32
that's that is a part of that. So

Kat Neubaum 26:34
so

Reed Neubaum 26:34
you

Kat Neubaum 26:35
you

Reed Neubaum 26:35
do you can't go for you know, even if you took you know,

Kat Neubaum 26:37
know,

Reed Neubaum 26:39
three 10 minute walks per day, that  doesn't elevate your heart rate for long enough to

Rich Bennett 26:46
yeah,

Reed Neubaum 26:47
health Yeah. I'm not seeing it's worth. I like keep walking. Don't absolutely keep doing those walks but it's better to get some longer.

Rich Bennett 26:56
I don't know if you can answer this. But those things that people put under.

Reed Neubaum 27:02
Oh, yeah,

Rich Bennett 27:03
sitting

Reed Neubaum 27:03
time.

Rich Bennett 27:03
down on Does

Reed Neubaum 27:05
to.

Rich Bennett 27:05
that allow me The foot pedal things.

Kat Neubaum 27:09
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 27:09
I got one sitting upstairs. I

Kat Neubaum 27:12
mean, yeah, that's going.

Reed Neubaum 27:14
Monitor on and see what happens.

Kat Neubaum 27:16
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 27:17
monitor.

Reed Neubaum 27:17
No,

Rich Bennett 27:18
No.

Reed Neubaum 27:19
All right, then you

Rich Bennett 27:19
You

Reed Neubaum 27:19
got

Rich Bennett 27:19
know

Reed Neubaum 27:19
to do

Rich Bennett 27:19
what?

Reed Neubaum 27:20
it. The old fashion.

Rich Bennett 27:21
Yeah, I always because I used to all the time and I would get my anxiety would go up because if I would see my blood pressure go up. Or my heart rate even just sitting down.

Reed Neubaum 27:32
Too much awareness.

Rich Bennett 27:33
Yeah,

Reed Neubaum 27:34
yeah.

Rich Bennett 27:34
Yeah, and it will, I mean, look at many people when you go to the doctor and they take your blood pressure. It seems like it's always higher than normal because people don't like going to the doctors.

Kat Neubaum 27:46
mind.

Rich Bennett 27:46
I don't

Reed Neubaum 27:48
Yep,

sure.

Rich Bennett 27:52
They're impressin' at hell. Oh yeah, you did put on a little bit more.

You still haven't broke 250 so you're good. Oh thanks. What? I like it when doctors give me goals and stay on top of me and get on me, have you got it done yet? Some-

Reed Neubaum 28:14
some- some of

my doctors

Rich Bennett 28:16
do

Kat Neubaum 28:16
Mm,

Rich Bennett 28:16
that.

Reed Neubaum 28:16
I hear

Rich Bennett 28:19
more from-

Reed Neubaum 28:20
Yeah, I'm

Rich Bennett 28:20
not gonna mention your names, Kate, but I hear more More

Reed Neubaum 28:23
from- my-

Rich Bennett 28:24
my doctor spouse saying, 'Rich, have you done this

Kat Neubaum 28:26
yet?' Mmm,

Rich Bennett 28:27
she didn't know that I- nevermind.

Nicole Valan 28:34
Oh, I-

Reed Neubaum 28:35

Nicole Valan 28:38
In that

Rich Bennett 28:38
know

Nicole Valan 28:38
short

Rich Bennett 28:38
it.

Nicole Valan 28:38
time, I No,

Reed Neubaum 28:40
I was

Rich Bennett 28:40
about the book that I

Reed Neubaum 28:41
serious

Rich Bennett 28:41
think, because especially the videos you guys do. You know, in the- the fitness and everything, I think it'd be a good

Reed Neubaum 28:48
idea if

Rich Bennett 28:49
you- a little thing

Kat Neubaum 28:51
Uh, wait,

Rich Bennett 28:52
uh- what?

Kat Neubaum 28:53
question. Aren't you supposed to be writing a book?

Rich Bennett 28:54
I am, thank

Kat Neubaum 28:56
you.

Rich Bennett 28:57
Yeah, call me out again. Uh- I am-

Reed Neubaum 29:03
What's

Rich Bennett 29:03
coming along?

Reed Neubaum 29:05
Sl-

Rich Bennett 29:07
Sl-

Nicole Valan 29:09
and-

Rich Bennett 29:10
I-

Reed Neubaum 29:10
[laughter]

Rich Bennett 29:11
I got the title. Uh, no, slowly, but short. I've had like one on one past few weeks, so I haven't-

Kat Neubaum 29:17
Prioritized it.

Nicole Valan 29:19
It's

Rich Bennett 29:19
Yeah,

Nicole Valan 29:19
summer.

Rich Bennett 29:19
thank you.

Nicole Valan 29:19
Summer energy.

Rich Bennett 29:20
Yeah, yeah. Uh, but I mean, look, just take that- that 45-minute walk that you do- 45-minute walk that you do, because you're writing a book in honor. You're gonna be the ghost writer. Who's the better writer?

Kat Neubaum 29:34
He's- he's good with words.

Rich Bennett 29:36
So,

Kat Neubaum 29:38
I'll

Reed Neubaum 29:40
the

Rich Bennett 29:40
just start writing recipes and everything, because I know you

Nicole Valan 29:45
you could probably dictate it to

Kat Neubaum 29:47
guys-

Nicole Valan 29:47
something-

Kat Neubaum 29:47
Yeah,

Nicole Valan 29:48
somewhere.

Rich Bennett 29:48
Microsawword.

Nicole Valan 29:49
See?

Rich Bennett 29:50
You can do that.

Nicole Valan 29:51
Just.

Kat Neubaum 29:53
[laughter]

Rich Bennett 29:55
I think- ha-

Reed Neubaum 29:57
How

Rich Bennett 29:58
many good recipes do you have?

Kat Neubaum 30:00
A lot. recipes.

Reed Neubaum 30:03
More

Kat Neubaum 30:05
Throw this in. Yeah.

Rich Bennett 30:07
So, you're like-

Reed Neubaum 30:09
I wouldn't be

Kat Neubaum 30:09
to-

Reed Neubaum 30:09
able

Kat Neubaum 30:09
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 30:10
Okay. I've never

Reed Neubaum 30:11
it

Rich Bennett 30:12
read

Reed Neubaum 30:12
that much.

Rich Bennett 30:13
Yeah.

Nicole Valan 30:14
think the question, too, is how do you get to the- like, how

Kat Neubaum 30:17

Nicole Valan 30:17
do you simplify the information and get it to masses?

Kat Neubaum 30:21
Right? Right. For everybody to be able to

Rich Bennett 30:23
too.

Kat Neubaum 30:23
understand

Rich Bennett 30:23
Yeah,

Nicole Valan 30:24
for.

Reed Neubaum 30:24
that's what I was

Nicole Valan 30:24
For everybody to have

Reed Neubaum 30:25
hoping Dude,

Nicole Valan 30:26
access.

Reed Neubaum 30:26
it like, I'm a visual learner, I have to structure things like this. This is the best way that I can explain it simply. So, it's like your blood work calls- it goes into

Rich Bennett 30:37
function . Right.

Reed Neubaum 30:38
like, "Do you have chronic diseases as function? How your body is functioning is function?" You know what

Rich Bennett 30:45
It's

Reed Neubaum 30:45
I- it's- it's just a weight like that's a category.

Nicole Valan 30:48
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 30:48
Then there's the fitness category, which you can do. You can't- like, I can't measure that with a scan or a test.

Nicole Valan 30:54
Right.

Reed Neubaum 30:55
I can test you by saying how many squats can you do in two minutes? Let's go.

Rich Bennett 30:58
So,

Reed Neubaum 30:59
or like,

Rich Bennett 31:00
if-

Reed Neubaum 31:00
go over there and run and get back to me, time it, that's- like these are all measures. Like, so, there are- these are all measurable things. So,

Rich Bennett 31:08
you're

Reed Neubaum 31:08
if you're-

Rich Bennett 31:09
visualizing that, you're looking at that, then you can explain it better. Is that what I'm hearing?

Reed Neubaum 31:14
I find that people understand- people can understand what we're talking about.

Nicole Valan 31:18
Right.

Rich Bennett 31:19
It's right. Except for-

Reed Neubaum 31:19
It's real.

Rich Bennett 31:20
yeah.

Nicole Valan 31:22
Like, the books are great idea, but I think that's the thing. Is what you're saying is

Reed Neubaum 31:27
poster.

Nicole Valan 31:27
it's- It's- yes.

Reed Neubaum 31:28
Remind them to change their behavior to make habits that do- these things positively- these things better.

Nicole Valan 31:35
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 31:36
That's a great idea.

Kat Neubaum 31:37
And app.

Rich Bennett 31:39
An app's a good idea too, but even like..

Nicole Valan 31:42
even like a- or take talk.

Kat Neubaum 31:44
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 31:45
Even like a poster which you can create on Canva, and then add it to your website.

Reed Neubaum 31:49
Maybe some- moving- a moving poster that's on it. And app?

Kat Neubaum 31:55
What?

Reed Neubaum 31:56
No, it's take- not-

Rich Bennett 31:57
[laughter]

Nicole Valan 31:58
And- never back to

Rich Bennett 32:01
TikTok.

Reed Neubaum 32:02
Just can't

Nicole Valan 32:02
It all

Reed Neubaum 32:02
escape

Nicole Valan 32:03
circles back. Telling you, I think- but- but that's the hardest part

Reed Neubaum 32:09
it.

Nicole Valan 32:09
is trying to break it down so that it

Kat Neubaum 32:11
Yeah.

Nicole Valan 32:11
is-

Kat Neubaum 32:12
Yeah. Understandable?

Nicole Valan 32:14
Yes, digestible

Kat Neubaum 32:15
Yes.

Nicole Valan 32:15
for people. And it's like you said, the free stuff, take the free stuff at a bare minimum. And then...

Reed Neubaum 32:22
Practical.

Nicole Valan 32:24
Exactly. It's accessible, it's practical. And what you're trying to do with the diagram is to really make it plain to see. Like if you can prioritize these three things, then you'll be in optimal health.

Reed Neubaum 32:44
Yeah, if someone said, like, "What can I do? I know nothing about these things," and think of one thing

Rich Bennett 32:50
in these,

Reed Neubaum 32:51
and they'll focus on anything else, just get a habit of this.

Kat Neubaum 32:55
Consistently.

Reed Neubaum 32:55
Yeah. Yeah. I

Nicole Valan 32:56
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 32:56
mean, I didn't have the time that is, have a bedtime and fill your water up before you go to bed. So that, it's ready, so the first thing you do when you get up, after having a good night's sleep is hydrate after sleeping, it's like that's like step one for most people, like, have a bedtime, makes you're taking one thing. It's one thing, I can do it right now, and I never have to think about it again. I just have to execute the getting up when the alarm goes off. Pick a bedtime. I am in bed, ready for bed in bed at this time. If you do that for a long enough, you'll see a regular sleep pattern will come up. Now, there are other things, there are other variables that people might struggle with that. I'm not saying that's going to be, like, a guarantee that, they're

Nicole Valan 33:43
No, but your body, like, sinks to the rhythm

Reed Neubaum 33:46
stacked.

Nicole Valan 33:46
of that, yeah.

Reed Neubaum 33:47
By having a bedtime.

Nicole Valan 33:48
Right.

Rich Bennett 33:50
Look at it as your

Kat Neubaum 33:54
job.

Rich Bennett 33:54
I mean, it's basically routine, they're doing the same stuff all the

Kat Neubaum 33:57
Whether

Rich Bennett 33:58
time.

Kat Neubaum 33:58
they want to or not,

Rich Bennett 33:59
yeah,

Kat Neubaum 33:59
they get up and,

Rich Bennett 34:00
do that with,

Kat Neubaum 34:01
same with exercise

Rich Bennett 34:02
as well. I mean, I, I'm, bed, bed,

Reed Neubaum 34:06
bed, bed,

Rich Bennett 34:06
a time I get up, it's the same time for me.

Reed Neubaum 34:12
But

Rich Bennett 34:12
even when I eat, same time for lunch, same time for dinner, or at least close to it,

Reed Neubaum 34:18
do you

Rich Bennett 34:19
have to get the exercise, I'm down better,

I know.

Kat Neubaum 34:25
You're ready.

Rich Bennett 34:26
I do want to try this aerial yoga though.

Kat Neubaum 34:29
I want to

Reed Neubaum 34:30
that.

Kat Neubaum 34:30
come watch

Nicole Valan 34:31
Watch it.

Rich Bennett 34:32
Well, when

Kat Neubaum 34:33
watch you,

Rich Bennett 34:34
do it

Kat Neubaum 34:35
yes.

Rich Bennett 34:35
Why, so you could see me fall. No,

Kat Neubaum 34:38
you won't fall, it'll be very safe.

Rich Bennett 34:40
Yeah, but I don't want to get tennis elbow.

Reed Neubaum 34:45
Your eyes on your own paper.

Nicole Valan 34:49
Keep yourself in your own fabric. Stay

Kat Neubaum 34:52
belt. I

Nicole Valan 34:53
on your

Kat Neubaum 34:53
want to try it. It looks like a.

Rich Bennett 34:54
Alright, I'll tell you what, we'll go up there. You try it first.

Kat Neubaum 34:58
Okay.

Rich Bennett 34:59
And then read will try

Kat Neubaum 35:00
Okay.

Rich Bennett 35:00
it.

Kat Neubaum 35:01
And

Rich Bennett 35:01
then I'll do it.

Kat Neubaum 35:01
Okay.

Rich Bennett 35:03
Is that what you guys are, maybe I should do it first?

Reed Neubaum 35:06
sit

Rich Bennett 35:06
In case I

Reed Neubaum 35:07
there.

Kat Neubaum 35:12
It's

Reed Neubaum 35:12
nice

Nicole Valan 35:13
to see, like

Reed Neubaum 35:14
I have it.

Nicole Valan 35:17
Kids are here. You

Reed Neubaum 35:18
only

Nicole Valan 35:19
support

Reed Neubaum 35:19
in business, the

Nicole Valan 35:21
goals and function and

Rich Bennett 35:23
how

Nicole Valan 35:23
health. I think that's also a key component is that you have that support, yeah, support system. And whatever you're doing, should be fun and entertaining. So if it's running after

Reed Neubaum 35:34
the

Nicole Valan 35:35
ground and hanging upside down in a fabric of studio, it's fun.

Rich Bennett 35:40
When are you hanging upside down?

Kat Neubaum 35:42
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 35:42
Yeah. You didn't tell me that part.

Kat Neubaum 35:44
You need to do some

Reed Neubaum 35:45
It's like

Kat Neubaum 35:46
research.

Reed Neubaum 35:46
one of

Kat Neubaum 35:46
points. Yeah,

Reed Neubaum 35:47
the

Kat Neubaum 35:47
that's why I want to come

Rich Bennett 35:48
you. Blood

Kat Neubaum 35:48
watch

Rich Bennett 35:49
rush to

Reed Neubaum 35:49
head.

Rich Bennett 35:49
your

Kat Neubaum 35:50
Okay,

Nicole Valan 35:51
again, is the point.

Rich Bennett 35:53
Why do you want the blood rushing to your head?

Nicole Valan 35:56
You don't, yeah, you.

Rich Bennett 35:58
Alright, I'm okay.

Nicole Valan 36:00
You want to redirect the blood flow. It's a good thing.

Rich Bennett 36:06
Yeah.

Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 36:08
Yeah. Uh, you get to learn

Kat Neubaum 36:10
loudly.

Rich Bennett 36:12
You got me

Nicole Valan 36:13
hanging. It's

Rich Bennett 36:13

Nicole Valan 36:14
like

Rich Bennett 36:14
down. You want to do the drive

Reed Neubaum 36:16
to.

Nicole Valan 36:17
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 36:18
it's

Nicole Valan 36:18
then you can't eat bacon wrapped Oreos dipped in cheese. Not

Kat Neubaum 36:23
regularly

Nicole Valan 36:23
anyways.

Rich Bennett 36:26
Cheese could be.

Reed Neubaum 36:29
He's

Nicole Valan 36:29
drawing again.

Rich Bennett 36:32
I read a scene here drawing what.

Reed Neubaum 36:36
Well, no, because we kind of get you reminded me where this like the whole three Fs thing it really comes from the biopsychosocial model. It's another way. It's another three conveniently three circle diagram where. These are other aspects of health another framework for health is biological psychological and social factors and that's kind of what you're getting to we have a easy time doing this because we're together all the time.

Rich Bennett 37:06
Then you can do

Reed Neubaum 37:06
It

Rich Bennett 37:06
it.

Reed Neubaum 37:06
works. The team. We  divide and conquer. We are in the healthcare industry like we're reminded of this stuff so it's our lives

Rich Bennett 37:18
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 37:18
talking about this stuff so it's easier for us to do the things that we try to be good examples for other people. But that's kind of what you're getting this is social right and also emailed personal development books and

Rich Bennett 37:34
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 37:35
podcasts.

Nicole Valan 37:35
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 37:36
It's the psychological part where we're very resilient psychologically because we

Kat Neubaum 37:41
Yes.

Reed Neubaum 37:42
just where there was you know school and school and college athletes and you know serious athletes in hard educational programs like

Nicole Valan 37:56
right

Reed Neubaum 37:57
psychologically we've done. So it's another aspect of health that this does miss and that's kind of what you're saying to earlier with the mental

Rich Bennett 38:08
right.

Reed Neubaum 38:09
There's only a piece and that's what I would point to just like tie that into these there's bio there's bio psychosocial tactics and strategies and variables within all these two so this is where it's so complex like health health being you know getting staying healthy so hard because it's so complex that's what these frameworks are supposed to do is to at least give you. Ability to think about eating this right.

Yeah. This isn't this certainly isn't new in talking about these three. I don't know if that I doubt that that's not well I just think that we're in unique positions to.

Rich Bennett 38:53
Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 38:57
We can through chiropractic care massage acupuncture driving all the tools that we've already talked about we can help people's function improve I'm a kettlebell instructor we have yoga classes available at our practice we love encouraging people to do their fitness stuff.

Kat Neubaum 39:15
We can

Reed Neubaum 39:16
I can

Kat Neubaum 39:16
and version.

Reed Neubaum 39:17
find I

Nicole Valan 39:20
can

Rich Bennett 39:21
find

Reed Neubaum 39:21
a way.

Nicole Valan 39:23
Yeah

Reed Neubaum 39:24
and then we do nutrition stuff too so it's like

Kat Neubaum 39:26
We

Reed Neubaum 39:26
we're.

Kat Neubaum 39:27
hit all three of those

Reed Neubaum 39:28
yeah conveniently these are things that we sell. Yeah but it's also I see no other way this it really is the best way to get long term health is by doing these things.

Nicole Valan 39:40
Yeah it's people talking about it

Reed Neubaum 39:42
that's

Nicole Valan 39:42
and

Reed Neubaum 39:42
why we're

Nicole Valan 39:42
Question

Reed Neubaum 39:42
focusing. yeah

Nicole Valan 39:44
like we were talking before and and it's that whole concept of well for me I always refer to it is people are afraid to walk through the door like it's what's behind the door.

Rich Bennett 39:55
I don't

Nicole Valan 39:55
want to ask the question because then you don't really know what the possibilities are and you offer giant Ealing we were talking about what what makes someone a candidate for those things how do you I like assume when they come in you do an assessment and then you kind of can set them up on a plan where you are.

Kat Neubaum 40:19
Right

Nicole Valan 40:20
to determine what kind of therapies and

Kat Neubaum 40:22
are going to be.

Nicole Valan 40:25
But it's like that's the idea too is no stone left on turn when it comes to your help like ask the questions it doesn't mean because you have a pain here it's immediate surgery there are therapies and ways to. Yeah

Rich Bennett 40:39
yeah

Reed Neubaum 40:39
I think yeah it happens all the time I someone comes from the social no I got this shoulder has been preventing

you have a fitness routine I haven't.

Nicole Valan 40:52
Yeah

Reed Neubaum 40:54
a decade maybe we start with some basic exercises and start there before we do anything drastic

Nicole Valan 41:02
right. You

Reed Neubaum 41:03
know it's like and yeah but you have to figure that out everyone's

Rich Bennett 41:07
yeah

Nicole Valan 41:08
everyone's different.

Reed Neubaum 41:08
You can even shoot sometimes right there's there's no amount of manual therapy that I can do if this person can't remove some provoking thing in their life

Nicole Valan 41:22

Reed Neubaum 41:22
and I can take you anyway.

Nicole Valan 41:25
But I think it's just getting people to talk about these things and find out how they can. Give it into it in a simple way is it sounds like is really

Rich Bennett 41:35
I mean I gotta admit

Reed Neubaum 41:37
the message.

Rich Bennett 41:38
ever since I've been going to ultimate health. And I'm not afraid to ask the questions and I'm not afraid of the

Reed Neubaum 41:47
end.

Rich Bennett 41:47
Tell me not to do something. I'm not going to do it. But you tell me to do something I'm going to. I will do it eventually. Take me some time but I feel a lot

Reed Neubaum 42:00
better.

Rich Bennett 42:02
Well you guys weren't there when I first started because I think I was still it. I may have been at 300 pounds when I first started there. Or at least close

Reed Neubaum 42:15
to it.

Rich Bennett 42:16
Yeah I guess

Reed Neubaum 42:16

Nicole Valan 42:16
will.

Rich Bennett 42:20
Yeah let me

Nicole Valan 42:21
dog.

Rich Bennett 42:21
ask my

Nicole Valan 42:22
You've heard it here.

Rich Bennett 42:22
Cat Cat with it be okay for me to try to.

Reed Neubaum 42:25
to do it. I'll do it. Okay.

Kat Neubaum 42:26
Yes.

Rich Bennett 42:27
You

Kat Neubaum 42:27
lot.

Rich Bennett 42:27
have a

Kat Neubaum 42:27
Try

Nicole Valan 42:28
Yeah. Yeah. Somebody

Rich Bennett 42:29
will time. Somebody will time me up and.

Nicole Valan 42:30
Well we'll lower it for you.

Kat Neubaum 42:31
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 42:32
Yeah. Oh there is a liner. I thought you.

Reed Neubaum 42:34
Please just rub

Rich Bennett 42:35
yourself up and pull yourself

Nicole Valan 42:36
I'll

Rich Bennett 42:36
up.

Nicole Valan 42:38
get on the ladder. I'll lower the fabric and then

Kat Neubaum 42:40
get.

Nicole Valan 42:40
you'll

Rich Bennett 42:43
I could do it like a hammock.

Nicole Valan 42:45
Exactly.

Kat Neubaum 42:47
We

Nicole Valan 42:48
can have you just relax

Reed Neubaum 42:50
fact

Nicole Valan 42:50
in the completely.

Kat Neubaum 42:52
That will feel good.

Rich Bennett 42:53
I like to cocoon.

Nicole Valan 42:55
Yes.

Reed Neubaum 42:56
Okay pull

Nicole Valan 42:56
Look.

Reed Neubaum 42:56
the chains.

Nicole Valan 42:57
Now he sounds like a pro like the cocoon.

Reed Neubaum 43:00
Yes. I'm

Rich Bennett 43:01
ready

Nicole Valan 43:01
this. Yeah.

Reed Neubaum 43:03
for

Rich Bennett 43:03
Who's going first? You or

Kat Neubaum 43:06
these.

Rich Bennett 43:08
is the

Reed Neubaum 43:09
This

Rich Bennett 43:09
silks.

Nicole Valan 43:09
Are these reeds like we

Kat Neubaum 43:10
I want to.

Nicole Valan 43:11
do? No. Oh

Reed Neubaum 43:11
I don't. I'm down whenever.

Nicole Valan 43:14
I think

Rich Bennett 43:15
schedule at what

Nicole Valan 43:16
That

Rich Bennett 43:16
is

Nicole Valan 43:16
could be fun.

Rich Bennett 43:17
fun.

Nicole Valan 43:18
Schedule away.

Rich Bennett 43:19
That could be a fun thing to do.

Kat Neubaum 43:20
Video.

Rich Bennett 43:22
Yes. Have to have somebody video it.

Nicole Valan 43:24
No more podcast. All of a sudden we're live.

Rich Bennett 43:32
All of a sudden that silk gave

Nicole Valan 43:38
out on.

Rich Bennett 43:40
That could be fun though. Okay. What days you guys off?

Kat Neubaum 43:45
Never.

Nicole Valan 43:46
Never. Never. Never. Their parents.

Rich Bennett 43:48
Jesus.

Kat Neubaum 43:50
No, we can find a dime. Definitely.

Rich Bennett 43:53
Are you. You got anything to add about the three F's? And do you have any more questions?

Nicole Valan 43:59
No, I think. I mean, I think the biggest thing is

Reed Neubaum 44:02
for people

Nicole Valan 44:02
to be aware.

People to be aware and and be curious about your health. I think that's the point of today's.

Rich Bennett 44:11
Yeah. Oh,

Nicole Valan 44:12
Ask the

Rich Bennett 44:13
definitely.

Nicole Valan 44:13
questions.

Rich Bennett 44:14
Where? Where could people find you guys? Even though they should remember from the other two times, you're three times you're wrong.

Reed Neubaum 44:20
If you have

Rich Bennett 44:21
through

Reed Neubaum 44:22
to those

Rich Bennett 44:23

Good job. what a fun and informative conversation with Dr. Reed and Cat in New bomb. The ideal function, fuel and fitness gives us a simple way to look at something that can often feel complicated. Our health. It's not about following every new trend or attempting to change everything overnight. It begins with awareness. Asking questions and building a strong foundation through regular movement, proper hydration, quality sleep, and better choices about how we fuel our bodies. One of the biggest takeaways is that consistency, at least to me, is that consistency matters more than perfection. Start Start with something practical. Make it part of your routine and build from there. Your health needs to be a priority because when you take better care of yourself, you're better able to take care of the people who depend on you. And don't be afraid to walk through the door, talk with a professional and discover what may be possible. before assuming pain or limitations are something you simply have to live with. I also want to thank Nicole Valentine for joining me. This was her first time co-hosting and I think she did an outstanding job. She brought thoughtful questions, helpfu insights and plenty of fun to the conversation. I have a feeling this won't be the last time you hear her sitting in that chair. And apparently, I may be trying an aerial hug as soon as I thought, hmm, if that happens, there'll better be video. Although I'm still not promising that I'll give up barbecue baking wrapped Oreos. I just don't know about them covered in cheese. Until next time, I'm Rich Bennett. Thanks for listening and remember, every great conversation starts with someone willing to listen and someone willing to share. Now it's your turn. Join the conversation by sharing this episode, leave in a comment or reaching out to me directly. Take care. Be kind to one another and I'll talk with you again soon.
